Thayer Central Wins District Meet
Thayer Central played host to eight total schools this year for the C2-4 District Speech meet, held on Monday, March 12th.  The Titan Talkers made sure the day was one for the record books by qualifying 10 students for State in 9 events while securing the District Title.
The Thayer Central Team was led by four event champions: Junior Maggie Harris in Serious Prose, Junior McKenzie Johnson in Informative, Junior Dakota Cherney in Entertainment, and Sophomore MicKael Halverstadt in Extemporaneous Speaking.  In addition to the event champions, Thayer Central qualified five more programs for state: Harris in Poetry (2nd place), Cherney in Humorous Prose (2nd Place), Junior Holly Timmerman in Persuasive Speaking (2nd Place), the Junior Duet Acting team of Keegan Casey and Dylan Fischer (2nd), and the OID team of Seniors Dalton Williams and Cade Friedely, Junior MaryRuth Dodes and Halverstadt (3rd).
Thayer Central had several other programs medal on the day.  Junior Yong Wang took home two 4th place medals (Entertainment and Persuasive).  Sophomore Jayden Leonard and Freshman McKenna Leonard earned 4th in Duet Acting.  Junior Bridget Linton won 5th in Informative.  The OID team of Freshman Buchannan Tietjen, Kenzie Remmers, Kelby Mumm, and Chloe Hintz won 5th place.  Mumm added in a 6th place in Poetry.
“It’s been just wonderful to see our kids grow and compete and just put in the work to have the success they did,” said Thayer Central Coach Justin Bomar.  “It took the work of every last kid to make an impact today.  It makes me proud as a coach, to say the least.”
