    The Fairbury City Council has approved their 2018-2019 budget. Brian Blobaum of Blobaum and Busboom was present to highlight a few notes about the budget.

    While presenting before the county commissioners on Tuesday, Jefferson County Sheriff Nels Sorensen addressed the establishment of the new school resource officer. He confirmed a previous statement that the officer will be a former police officer.  The officer will be going through a five day training starting October 1 in preparation for the position.

The Jefferson County Commissioners signed off on their budget on September 11, at their regularly scheduled meeting. As part of their budget this year the commissioners made several cuts and increased the levy.
