Fairbury was without power temporarily on the afternoon of Tuesday, May 29. According to city officials the mass power outage was a result of a tree branch damaging a return line known as the 306.
The branch was dislodged during the heavy rain and winds that blew through the city that afternoon. The entire downtown area as well as residential homes and all the way to Endicott were without power for a short period of time.
Crews were able to get the power back up and running for the city within an hour.
