Thayer Central senior Damian Stewart tallied the 100th win of his wrestling career with the Titans on Saturday at the Aquinas Invite. The senior 132-pounder defeated Pierce’s Mason Sedlacek in the first round of the tournament by fall to claim his 100th win.
Thayer Central head coach Josh Bowers noted that Stewart’s most commendable ability is his drive to keep going no matter the circumstance. He gave credit to his mentality for getting him to point he is at today.
“Damian is a hard worker and very consistent.  He is going to keep going and pushing his opponents to the very end.  He wins a lot of matches in the third period because of this,” Bowers said.
The Titans head coach added his thoughts on his strongest traits on the mat.
“Determination and his ability to never get frustrated,” he said. “ He will always keep pushing forward.”
Stewart reached the 100-win mark with a 24-22 record his freshman year, 28-24 record his sophomore year, 36-20 during his junior campaign, and 13-8 so far this season.
The three-sport athlete has qualified for state the past two season at 132-pounds in Class D. He went 1-2 at both state meets.
