Thayer Central kept things close in the first half, but Nebraska Lutheran’s big third quarter propelled the Knights to a 42-14 victory over the Titans on Friday in Waco.
Thayer Central head coach Jereme Jones said, “They beat us in all three phases of the game and were more physical overall than we were. We did have a chance at some big plays but were just unable to finish.”
Nebraska Lutheran outscored Thayer Central 16-0 in the third quarter.
Thayer Central got on the board in the first quarter on an Isaiah Keilwitz 5-yard run to narrow the Titans deficit to 8-6 in the first quarter after a failed 2-point conversion.
Keilwitz led the team in rushing, accumulating 92 yards on 18 carries.
Zach Koss scored Thayer Central’s second and final TD in the fourth quarter via a 76-yard kickoff return.
