An outbreak of lung injuries across the country, including here in Nebraska, has led to increasing concerns about the health consequences of vaping and the use of e-cigarettes and a debate about how to combat the problem, especially among underage users.
Vaping is the inhaling of nicotine with a electronic cigarette, or e-cigarette. An e-cigarette heats a liquid to create an aerosol, called “vapor,” that can be inhaled.
Concern regarding underage nicotine use, including vaping and smoking, have prompted school personnel, City and County Officials and law enforcement to coordinate their efforts to try and come up with solutions. A meeting was held on July 22, at the Jefferson County Law Enforcement Center to hold what Fairbury Public Schools Superintendent Stephen Grizzle described as a “brainstorming session.”
