When Tim Linscott asked me to offer a perspective on the current events in our country, I was deeply honored. It caused further introspection and consideration of our current state, and more importantly, the opportunity to put it into its proper perspective.
Dear Citizens of Fairbury, All the employees of JCH&L and the Fairbury Clinic,
I would like to take this time to reflect on my 40 1/2 years in Fairbury and thank everyone who has been part of my career. I have been privileged to work with many excellent doctors, nurses, pharmacists and all the people of multiple ancillary services during my time in Fairbury. I cannot begin to name everyone in fear that I would omit someone’s name. If it wasn’t for all of you I would never have lasted.
In order to get lottery in Nebraska they said all the money will go to schools. Well we know now that did not happen Now to get gambling in Nebraska they say they would only be at horse race tracks. But I recorded Channel 8 news and they said and I quot, (stet) To open cassinos (stet) as soon as possible and expand them to include restaurants Hotels and other amitys (stet). This is not what they said race tracks only. I have it recorded for any non beleavers (stet)
As COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations continue to rise in our community, I am deeply troubled as to what the future may bring unless we take action very soon.
Jefferson Community Health & Life is vital to this community; however, the impacts of this pandemic are putting both our healthcare workers and our patients at risk.
In the September 9, 2020 edition of the Fairbury Journal News in the J-N Commentary section under the subject "Efficient?" the question is asked why the City did not consolidate the now dissolved Board of Public Works with the Public Works Committee instead of piling more on the plates of the City Council?
The Fairbury Cemetery Board would like to show our gratitude for the work and Painting the house of the Cemetery Superintendent by the M.A.D. team led by Zane Grizzle and his volunteers from the High School.
These are extraordinary young folks who want to make a difference and by their efforts....they certainly did.
Great job done by young volunteers.
We also want to thank Mr. Alan Dux for his immediate help at the cemetery for a fallen tree on some Headstones and graves this last week.
As this legislative session comes to a close this week I would like to highlight a few bills that will benefit the thirty-second district. One such bill is LB 1107 which is the Revenue Committee’s last attempt at property tax relief coupled with the new business tax incentives known as the ImagiNE Act. As of this writing 1107 has passed the first round with my support.
I want to thank you for inviting Sesostris Shriner’s to the Fairbury Drive-by today. We had a total of 31 Shrines and there family members attended. My wife was riding with me and we were totally impressed on the way the people of Fairbury did the social distancing and followed the guidelines. You should be VERY proud of the members of your community. I think you were the shining star of my year!! All other towns need to follow your lead for the rest of the year and next years parades.
Thank you again and please tell your board members, town members thank you!
Think schools closed until further notice, children studying on-line. Schools MAY open in September (the new school year) maybe. School starts at pre-school all the way to college. Again, that's only a tentative start. Graduations, everywhere, are cancelled. Many are done virtually. Most get their diplomas mailed to them.
