The Thayer Central boys basketball team fell to the Bruning-Davenport/Shickley Eagles 55-36 on February 23.
It was a passing of the torch, of sorts, at last week’s state swim meet in Lincoln.
The Beatrice/Norris/Fairbury/Freeman swim squad had solid showings, especially from senior competitors, as they ended their high school career, as did their coach. BNFF head coach Marian Wallen noted this is her last year of coaching the swim team.
“We wish all our seniors the best in their future endeavors. They have all made my last year as head coach a great one to remember!” Wallen said.
The Fairbury girls basketball team fell to the Auburn Bulldogs 34-33 on February 17 in a sub-district heartbreaker.
Senior Jordan Tracy knocked in 12 points to lead FHS while junior Karly McCord had seven points, Jami Mans eight, four for senior Ellie Ohlde and two for senior Maggie Layton.

With every NSAA State Wrestling Tournament in Omaha, there are highs and lows. The event was moved from a three-day event to a four day event. All of the wrestlers came back to their respective schools with a lifetime experience and some even brought a medal home with them.
Thayer Central had six wrestlers represent the Titans at state. Dominic Stewart had the highest achieving performance on the night with a second place finish in the Class D 145 pound class.
The Fairbury boys basketball team fell to the Seward Bluejays 69-47 on February 9. Seward took a commanding lead with 15 points in the first quarter and 17 points in the second quarter while the Jeffs scored 10 and 15 respectively. After the half, Seward kept up the pace with 19 points in the third quarter while the Jeffs dropped 8. In the final ten minutes of the game, Seward secured their victory with 18 points while the Jeffs scored 14.
