The Fairbury girls basketball team fell to the Auburn Bulldogs 34-33 on February 17 in a sub-district heartbreaker.
Senior Jordan Tracy knocked in 12 points to lead FHS while junior Karly McCord had seven points, Jami Mans eight, four for senior Ellie Ohlde and two for senior Maggie Layton.
The Fairbury boys basketball team fell to the Seward Bluejays 69-47 on February 9. Seward took a commanding lead with 15 points in the first quarter and 17 points in the second quarter while the Jeffs scored 10 and 15 respectively. After the half, Seward kept up the pace with 19 points in the third quarter while the Jeffs dropped 8. In the final ten minutes of the game, Seward secured their victory with 18 points while the Jeffs scored 14.
It was an off night for the Griffins. The Diller-Odell girls basketball team could only muster up 20 points against the Southern Raiders on January 19, losing 20-40. Thus far this season the Griffins have been averaging 39.7 points per game.
The MUDECAS tournament has a long, storied history, highlighted every year by incredible action from a varied array of competition. Despite a pandemic and changes to how the tournament was viewed, there was still incredible action from a varied array of competition.
The Tri County Trojans boys basketball team finished second overall in the tournament. In the finals, the Trojans fell to Parkview Christian of Lincoln, 46-58.
