Valentines For Veterans
Local elementary school students at both Central Elementary School and Jefferson Intermediate School have created Valentines to make a difference in the lives of active and retired service men and women in Nebraska. Students have made Valentines to be delivered to the VA Hospital and Retirement Home in Grand Island. Some may also be forwarded to the Omaha VA Hospital. Students in Fairbury are joined by students from Hebron, Geneva, and Superior in this worthwhile project. This valuable community service project lets our veterans know they are not forgotten and gives our children a way to say thank you for the sacrifices the veterans have made. Above, a Central Elementary School student puts the final touches on his Valentine greeting to a veteran. Right, Aden Watson, student of the week in Mrs. Mumm’s third grade class at Jefferson Elementary School, works to complete his Valentine this morning. To listen and watch some of the children read their cards and view Mrs. Mumm’s class sign the Pledge of Allegiance, watch the video on fairburyjournalnews.com (Journal-News photos by Vicki Check)
