1892The town of Jansen was incorporated with Conrad Bruer chairman of its trustees, D. Lewis treasurer, J.A. Thiessen clerk and A. L. Gibson marshal.1922All depositors were paid off in full when the Goodrich Bros. Bank of Fairbury closed. Its associate, the Fairbury Savings Bank, was taken over by the First National Bank. W.H. Schnuelle, who had been the Goodrich acting cashier, was appointed receiver for the bank, which had total assets of $539,000.The water level in the Little Blue River was so low the hydro-electric plant of the Lea Milling Co. was affected.1932A second well at Kesterson site (Crystal Springs) produced 200 gallons per minute on a 24-hour test.1962Herman Fairchild, 91, of Endicott died. He was the eldest and last survivor of three brothers who in 1919 had established the Fairchild brick plant, forerunner of Endicott Clay Products Co. Deger of Fairbury.1972Rehired as Fairbury Public School Administrators were Lewis Patrick, superintendent: Robert Ellsworth and William Cummins, senior and junior high school principals; and Darrel Freitag, elementary coordinator.Prices ranged from $4,000 for a Fairbury resident to $17 for a vacant lot in Steele City at a tax foreclosure sale of 10 properties.Kris Ortman of Hebron was Nebraska Junior Miss.1984The County Fair Board let a $117,500 contract for a new steel grandstand and concrete access ramp at the fairgrounds.1994Fairbury residents Bob and Wauneta Burkley presented Jefferson County Memorial Hospital officials with a check for $750,000 to help fund a wellness center at the hospital. 2004Fred Helmink, FPS Superintendent, Fairbury Jr.-Sr. High School Principal Ken Kujath, Tri County Principal Dennis Shipp and Tri County Superintendent Timm DeWaard made an attempt at being cheerleaders at the Fairbury/Tri County game, as part of a Future Business Leaders of America challenge. The administrators from each school agreed to lead cheers if students from each chapter raised more than $150 in a Mothers Against Drunk Driving fund drive.
