The Reverend Duane Hoist was installed as the new minister at American Lutheran Church, 12th and K Streets in Fairbury.
The Fairbury Jeffs stole the thunder from the Thunderbolts as they won their first game at Lincoln Pius since 1980, 71-54.
Plans for a city-owned recycling center was step closer to completion. Members of the Fairbury City Council granted tentative approval to a measure calling for the purchase of the former Eigenberg Produce building and adjacent land, located just south of the Fairbury softball complex.
Gridlock among District 8 board members resulted in no action being taken concerning approval of the district’s 1993-1994 school audit.
Four Fairbury Girl Scouts earned awards. They were Michaela Schramm, Jenni Short and Kelli Naiman, Gold Award, and Holly Ude and Stephanie Shalla won their Silver Award.
Jean Naiman was the leader for both troops.
