1875T.J. Kirk and “Mr. Marks” (possibly the Rev. Ives Mark?) each had a store at Rose Creek City, one on either side of the road. Grovert, FJC athletics coach, was to manage the new municipal swimming pool. He'd previously managed the pool at Crystal Springs.Motion pictures from “This is Life and “Family Life” series were to feature Sunday evening union services at the City Park, sponsored by the Baptist, Christian, Methodist and Presbyterian churches of Fairbury.1963Numerous Jefferson County farmers predicted their wheat would be a total loss, after the second hail and windstorm of the spring. The high winds flattened gardens and flowers in Fairbury.1972William Iwert and Mitzi Lindsley were top scholars in the graduating class at North Central High School, Morrowville.Voters in an 11-county district approved formation of a Southeast Technical Community College district.Honor graduates at Meridian High School were Suzanne Bartels, Randall Cecrle, Joyce DeWald, Sheila Eppler, LaRae Hamm, Wanda Henry, Kathleen Jezl, Janice Kottas, and Lonnie Miller.1982Frank Phelps, SCC-Fairbury chemistry instructor, retired after 35 years on the faculties of Fairbury High School and Fairbury Junior College.Ivan Zimmerman was chosen by Republicans for Third District County commissioner. Unopposed candidates for the county offices [R-Republicans, D-Democrats]: Marvene Rogers [R], Mary Schmal [D] for clerk; Donovan-Harris [R] and Alice Fall Nelson [D] for treasurer; Rex E South-wick [R] and Harold Kulhanel [D] for sheriff, Irene Hunsberger [R] and Ella Mae Monroe [D] for assessor; and Republicans Katherine E. Young, district court clerk; Joseph M.
