Area Legion Senior Teams Prepare For District Tourneys

The Wilber Seniors ended the July 21 game against Sutton in a tie, 6-6.Sutton went up 3-0 after one inning and Wilber tied the game in the fourth inning. Sutton had one run in the fifth, but Wilber scored two, going up 5-4. However, a sixth inning run put Wilber up 6-4, but a 2-0 seventh inning put the game tied at six.Chase Tachovsky had two hits and one RBI for Wilber and Lexand Baker had one hit, three RBI to lead Wilber. Karsen Fisher also had a hit for Wilber.Baker had a double and stolen bases for Wilber came from Karsen Fisher, Aven Smith, Cash Keslar and Collin Kohout.Aven Smith had eight strikeouts for Wilber on the mound and Allen Roger picked up two K’s.It was Shark Week for the Landsharks last week as it was a battle between the Fairbury Landshark seniors and the York Cornerstone Kings 18U on July 25. York escaped with a 9-8 win.Fairbury came out with the bats on fire, with a 4-1 first inning lead. Fairbury came on strong with a 1-0 second inning, up 5-1. York battled back with a 3-1 third inning for York, but Fairbury was up 6-4 going into the fourth inning. In the fourth, York had another 3-1 inning, tying the score at 7-all. York took an 8-7 lead in the sixth and Fairbury and York each scored one run in the seventh to give York the ‘W.’ Miles Tatro led the offense for Fairbury with two hits and three RBI. Grady Chappell had one hit, two RBI. Dom Joe had two hits for Fairbury while Dakota Zimmerman had one hit, one RBI while CJ Goeking had two hits and one RBI. Lucas Livingston had one hit for Fairbury.Blayne Schelbitzki, Joe and Goeking each had two strikeouts on the mound for the Landsharks.On Saturday, July 26, Fairbury grabbed a 5-3 win over Aurura Pinnacle Bank Post 42 18U.Both squads were scoreless until the third inning when Fairbury went up 4-3. In the fifth inning, Fairbury tacked on another run.Jamison Runge had the hot bat for the Landsharks with two hits and four RBI. Chappell had one hit and Schelbitzki had one hit, one RBI. Zimmerman and Goeking each had one hit.Runge had a double while Chappell and Runge each had stolen bases for Fairbury.Tatro pitched the entire game with six strikeouts. On July 27 the Landsharks chewed up the SOS Rebels and won in a big way, 15-5. The Rebels were up 2-1 after one inning but Fairbury went up 3-2 after the third inning. In the fourth inning, Fairbury outscored the Rebels 6-3, to go up 9-5. A fifth inning offensive explosion had Fairbury score six runs and blanking the Rebels. Fairbury had a 10-5 hit advantage.Neumiller had two hits, four RBI. Tatro had one hit, three RBI and Zimmerman one hit and two RBI. Runge had one hit, one RBI, Schelbitzki had one hit and three RBI and Joe had one hit, two RBI.Neumiller had a double for Fairbury.Joe had four strikeouts for Fairbury on the mound.On July 26, the Hebron Seniors lost to Wilber 3-4. Wilber was up 1-0 after the second inning and a 2-0 fourth inning which helped pad the lead as Hebron had a 2-0 sixth inning and a 101 fourth inning.Cole Vorderstrasse had two hits and Brayden Gausman had one hit for Hebron while Colter Sinn had one hit and one RBI.Aven Smith had two hits while Owen Smith, Chase Tachovsky, Karsen Fisher and RJ Klaassen each had one hit and Brock Young had one RBI for Wilber.Owen Smith knocked in a double and had a stolen base.Lexand Baker and Owen Smith each had four strikeouts for Wilber on the mound and Brayden Gausman had six K’s for Hebron.The Malcolm Seniors defeated Hebron 12-6 on July 26. For Hebron Colter Sinn had two hits and one RBI, Dylan Williams had one hit and two RBI as did Landyn Tuma. Williams had a double for Hebron.Kyler Boyles had three strikeouts for Hebron.Wilber defeated Tri County on July 26, 7-4. Wilber was up 1-0 in the first inning until Tri County tied the game in the second inning and took a 2-1 lead in the third. Wilber scored two runs in the fourth, up 3-2, and then a 2-0 run in the fifth put Wilber up 5-2. Tri County scored two innings in the sixth but Wilber runs in the seventh to seal the win.Owen Smith had two hits, three RBI, Aven Smith two hits, two RBI and Baker two hits, one RBI. Aven Smith had two doubles in the game for Wilber. Owen Smith pitched seven strikeouts on the mound for Wilber.Tayden Gronemeyer led the offense for Tri County with three hits and two RBI. Jayton Jones had one hit, one RBI. Jone had a homerun in the game for Tri County.Cole Spahr pitched two strikeouts for Tri County.Wilber lost 0-12 to Malcolm on July 27. Graysen Vlcan, Karsen Fisher and Aven Smith each had one hit. Smith had three strikeouts for Wilber.Tri County won 7-1 over Wymore Diller Odell (WDO) on July 26. Tri County was up 3-0 after the second inning. Up 4-1 in the fourth inning, Tri County scored three runs to close out the game, two in the fifth and one in the sixth.Logan Penner had two hits and Braydin Wendland had one hit, one RBI with Drake Troxel with one hit (a double) for WDO. Troxel had six strikeouts pitching for WDO.For Tri County, Jason Wehrman had a double and Jayton Jones had two hits, one RBI while Tayden Gronemeyer had two hits, three RBI. Spahr had one hit, one RBI.Henry Kapke had four strikeouts for Tri County.On July 27, BDS escaped with a 4-3 win over Tri County. Tri County was up 3-0 after three innings but BDS scored two in the fourth and two runs in the sixth to get the win.Cooper Stokebrand had two hits for Tri County while Jayton Jones had two hits, two RBI. Cheston Stewart had one RBI.Drew Siems had a double for Tri County and on the mound for Tri County, Maddox Haake and Jones each had five strikeouts.WDO lost 1-9 to BDS Seniors on July 26. Callan McKinney had three strikeouts on the mound for WDO and Peyton Denner had four.
