Grand Opening For Outdoor Concert Facility At Conrad Park A Success

The ribbon cutting and grand opening for the recently completed amphitheater at Conrad Park in downtown Fairbury was held Saturday, August 2, 2025. It was a day-long celebration dubbed Hullabalooza, with music, food and cornhole, that Fairbury Mayor Kelly Davis hopes to make an annual event. Entertainment included Brandson Logston, Monsters and Bay, the Personal Blues Revelation and S&N Unplugged. Money raised will go to support the Fairbury Public School’s Music Department.“I think all-in-all, we had a successful first Hullabalooza in Conrad Park. Any group that organizes anything like this always wishes it was better attended, but our committee was satisfied with our outcome,” Davis said. Mayor Davis told FJN after the event that he believes the new ampitheater will be a great asset to the downtown district, “We have so many to thank for their help, in so many ways, but I don’t want to leave anyone out, so I won’t name names, but please know you are very much appreciated. The bands, monetary donations from the business sponsors, people manning the different functions we had going on throughout the day, setting up and taking down the fence, the dumpsters, picnic tables, barricades, porta pots, face painting…it takes a village to do something like this, and we have a great one!”The weather was cooler than in recent weeks. There was a bit of rain but, according to the mayor, that didn’t dampen the festivities, “The rain around noon slowed down some of the day, but I think the kids’ games were busiest during the rain! It was so fun watching them. We might have a couple more donations coming in, but at this time we have a little over $9,400 that we will be giving to the Fairbury High School Band Department to help buy instruments for kids that want to participate in band to use. We will be making an official presentation to the band department. So once again, I want to thank the Hullabalooza Committee: Colby Ferris, Abby Hasselbring, Eric Prellwitz, Aaron Hasselbring and myself for the vision and drive to bring this all together. We will be meeting again in the near future to discuss things we need to change and improve on, and we will be back next year and hopefully for many years to come.”
