Endicott Woman Facing Multiple Felonies Heads to District Court

On Wednesday, September 9, 2025, Tammy Vculek, age 56, appeared in Jefferson County Court. Linda Bauer was the presiding judge. Vculek is charged with eight counts:Second offense resisting arrest, a class 3A felony punishable by up to three years in prison, nine to 18 months of post-release supervision and a $10,000 fine;Possession of methamphetamine, a class 4 felony punishable by up to two years in prison, nine to 12 months of post-release supervision and a $10,000 fine;Tampering with physical evidence, also a class 4 felony;Obstructing a peace officer, a class 1 misdemeanor punishable by up to one years in jail and a $1,000 fine;Operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest, also a class 1 misdemeanor;Driving without a valid registration, a class 3 misdemeanor punishable by up to three months in jail and a $500 fine;Failing to use a turn signal, an infraction that carries a $100 fine; andPossession of drug paraphernalia, also an infraction that carries a $100 fine. Because some of the charges are felonies. Vculek is entitled to a preliminary hearing to determine if there is sufficient evidence that a felony occurred.Unlike a trial, the bar for evidence in considerably lower in a preliminary hearing, which Vculek opted to waive. Vculek was previously convicted of resisting arrest in 2002.Deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office conducted a traffic stop in Fairbury on June 21, 2025, of a vehicle with plates that had expired in May of this year.The occupant was identified as Tammy Vculek.According to the deputy that filled out the arrest affidavit, “I questioned Vculek about the route she drove, and during our conversation, I grew more suspicious as she gave inconsistent answer with what I had observed.” According to the deputy, Vculek denied permission to search the vehicle, “I informed Vculek that I would be requesting a K-9.”The deputy indicated he asked Vculek to step out of her vehicle, “Vculek rolled up her window and began driving away.”The vehicle eventually stopped behind a residence in Fairbury. Per the deputy, “I exited my patrol vehicle, drew my service weapon, and began ordering Vculek to exit the vehicle. Vculek began blaring her truck horn.” More deputies arrived at the scene. A deputy reportedly informed Vculek that, if she did not exit the vehicle, a window would be broken and she would be removed by force. The deputy then struck the driver's side window three times with a baton before “Vculek opened the door, at which point she was assisted to the ground and handcuffed.”Deputies reportedly observed Vculek was not wearing shoes. A pair of shoes were retrieved from the vehicle and, according to the affidavit, “Inside the shoe was a glass pipe with a white crystal substance and a small butane torch lighter.”The defendant was transported to the Saline County Jail. She was later released on a $15,000 (10 percent) bond.Vculek is represented by attorney Benjamin Murray, had previously represented the defendant in another case. Having waived a preliminary hearing, Vculek’s case was bound over to District Court.She remains free at this time.
