Betty Jean Hoffman

Betty Jean Hoffman, of Endicott, passed away October 9, 2025 at Jefferson Community Health & Life at age 88. Betty Schipper was born April 2, 1937 in Fairbury, NE. Betty attended country schools in the area and Endicott High School where she graduated in 1955. On October 26, 1955 she married Omar Hoffman and they lived on the family farm near Endicott. They raised four children there. Betty enjoyed being Omar’s partner in farming. They implemented soil conservation practices that earned the farm a conservation award. They were also awarded an FFA Honorary Chapter degree. Betty also enjoyed nature and the outdoors, painting, crafting and music. She would sing "You Are My Sunshine" to the children and even sang and played the harmonica while milking the cows. She had a love for volleyball in her younger years. She liked bus trips with Omar, socializing over coffee, and especially spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Endicott United Methodist Church. Betty was preceded in death by her parents George & Laura (Stelling) Schipper; husband Omar; daughter Tracy Hoffman-Ideus; sons-in-law Lowell Smith, Russ Dorn, Glenn Ideus; sister Maxine Thieme; brother-in-law Ed Thieme; sister-in-law Lois Schipper; numerous brothers & sisters-in-law. Survivors are daughters Christine Smith, Becky Dorn (Brad Christ); son Charles Hoffman; brother George Schipper; grandchildren Casey Swartz (Matt), Nicki Blobaum (Mark), Kody Smith, Holly Ovale (Carlos), Jamie Dorn, Trenn Hoffman-Ideus, Joey Hoffman-Ideus & Ethan Hoffman-Ideus; great grandchildren Carter Blobaum, Zak Blobaum, Sadie Swartz & Henry Swartz. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at the Endicott Methodist Church. Burial will be at Fairbury Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Monday, October 13 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home. Memorials in Betty’s honor have been designated to the Endicott Methodist Church.
