Daykin Woman Accused of Burglary Avoids Jail Time

A Daykin woman originally accused of multiple felonies was sentenced to probation after reaching a plea agreement that reduced her charges to a misdemeanor.Harlee D. Kaderabek, age 27, appeared in Jefferson County Court on Wednesday, October 29, 2025. Linda Bauer was the presiding judge. Original ChargesIn one case, Kaderabek was originally charged with possession of methamphetamine, a class 4 felony punishable by up to two years in prison, nine to 12 months of post-release supervision and a $10,000 fine. She was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, an infraction that carries a $100 fine.In a separate case, Kaderabek was charged with burglary, a class 2A felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison, and theft with a value of $500 or less, a class 2 misdemeanor punishable by up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine. Basis for ArrestOn January 10, 2025, at approximately 4:20 a.m., deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a residence in Daykin. According to the arrest affidavit, “While enroute to scene the RP (Reporting Party) was watching a live feed from a security camera and stated there were two individuals inside the residence and provided a description thereof.”Deputies reported finding the residence vacant when arriving at the scene. However, per the affidavit, “We located two females matching the description provided by the RP were standing by a vehicle on the west side of the co-op by the air hose. The garage burglarized is located approx. 100 feet north of the co op.”According to the deputy that filled out the affidavit, the suspects identified themselves as Hailey and Harlee Kaderabek but neither had any form of identification. The deputy reported, “Both Hailey and Harlee initially stated they hadn't seen anybody else. Once informed of the live view camera in the garage the females admitted to taking two tool boxes from the residence and leaving them in a ditch to the north.”Two large red tool boxes were later found in the ditch north of the residence.The affidavit also noted, “Two black ski type masks were found in the vehicle.” Plea AgreementIn accordance with the plea agreement, the drug case would be dismissed, while the burglary charge would have been reduced to first degree criminal trespass, a class 1 misdemeanor.Kaderabek pleaded guilty.County Attorney Joseph Ccasson also agreed not to file additional charges for the defendant’s failure to appear in court previously. Kaderabek was scheduled to be sentenced on Wednesday, August 20, 2025. Judge Bauer denied a motion for continuance and issued an arrest warrant. SentenceThe defendant was represented by Public Defender Scott Gropp, who requested probation for his client, although he noted, “My client has a lot of anxiety about being successful on probation.”Judge Bauer told Kaderabek, “I think this is a critical time in your like and I think you could really benefit from probation.”The judge sentenced Kaderabek to 18 months of probation and warned that if she did not successfully complete probation, “You will be back in front of me in short orders and you’ll likely spend up to a year in jail.”
