Warrant Issued for Fairbury Man After He Failed to Appear for Court on Three Cases

A warrant was issued for a Fairbury man who failed to appear for court with three cases pending.Anthony M. Kenley, age 19, was scheduled to appear in Jefferson County Court on Wednesday, December 10, 2025. Linda Bauer was the presiding judge. First CaseIn 2024, Kenley was charged with operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest, a class 4 felony punishable by up to two years in prison, followed by nine to 12 months of post-release supervision and a $10,000 fine. In addition, he is charged with two misdemeanors, including first offense reckless driving and driving at night without lights, both class 3 misdemeanors. Kenley is also charged with two speeding infractions.On March 3, 2024, shortly after 1 a.m. deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office attempted to conduct a traffic stop near mile marker 160 on Highway 136. According to the deputy that filled out the arrest affidavit, lights on the vehicle were extinguished during the course of the pursuit, “I accelerated and advised Jefferson County dispatch that I was in pursuit of a truck I clocked at 98-mph (miles per hour) and blacked-out its lights and was trying to run on me. At that time, I was traveling at speeds between 70 to 89-mph southbound on the dirt road.”The deputy noted that when he hit the intersection at 714 Road and 576 Avenue, he was traveling at approximately 80 mph and, “my patrol vehicle and all four tires went airborne.”After that, the deputy indicated he observed the vehicle slow down and pull over to the west side of the road on 576 Avenue near 712 Road.The driver was identified as Kenley and taken into custody.In accordance with a plea agreement, Kenley pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of operating a vehicle to avoid arrest, a class 1 misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail and a $1,000 fine. The other charges were dismissed.Kenley was sentenced to 90 days in jail and 18 months of probation. However, a motion to revoke probation was filed on October 29, 2025, due to having new charges of driving under a revoked license in four separate counties: Jefferson, Gage, Lancaster and Johnson. Second CaseKenley was arrested on July 30, 2024, for driving while his license was revoked, a class 2 misdemeanor punishable by up to six months in jail and a $1,0000 fine. He later pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 12 months of probation. Kenley was arrested on another matter before his probation expired and was discharged as unsatisfactory. He was scheduled to have a hearing on the matter but failed to appear. Third CaseIn his most recent case, Kenley is charged once again with driving under a revoked license, a class 2 misdemeanor. He was arrested in Fairbury on August 18 of this year.The defendant is represented in all three cases by Public Defender Scott Gropp, who told the court he did not know where his client was.Judge Bauer issued a warrant for Kenely’s arrest.
