Titans Face MilfordFacing Milford on Dec. 9, the Thayer Central Titan girls basketball team dropped the contest 41-54.The Titans were up 9-7 after one quarter, however, an 18-7 run put the Eagles up 25-16 at the half.Thayer Central kept things tight with a 12-17 third quarter and outscored Milford 13-12 in the fourth quarter, attempting a comeback.Against Hanover, Kan., on Dec. 12, the Lady Titans edged the Wildcats, 46-43. FHS Defeats SuperiorFairbury’s girls basketball team faced Superior in Superior on Dec. 9 and cruised to a 45-35 win.The Lady Jeffs were up 12-7 after one quarter and held a 21-20 lead at the half. Putting some distance between them and Superior happened in the third quarter when FHS outscored the Wildcats 11-5 to go up 32-25 going into the fourth quarter. FHS outscored Superior 13-10 in the final quarter.Carrying the offensive load for FHS was Evelyn Timmons with a double double, 22 points, 12 rebounds. Micah Friesen added 11 points and five boards for Fairbury.Timmons and Friesen each had four assists while Cambria Myers finished with three assists. Timmons had four steals, three for Myers. Jordin Gill and Timmons each registered a block in the contest for FHS.Hosting Milford on Dec. 12, the Lady Jeffs struggled on offense and lost 12-62.Evelyn Timmons led the team with four points, Morgan Hansmire had three points. Neveah Ortiz had two points and Micah Friesen had one point. Timmons had two rebounds, one steal one block. Mia Dears had one assist while Jordin Gill led in rebounds with three rebounds. Cambria Myers and Molly Hansmire each had two boards. Myers had two steals. Micah Friesen had one block. Griffins Get Win Over BDSThe Diller-Odell girls basketball team faced Bruning-Davenport/Shickley on Dec. 9 and came away with a 44-38 win.The Griffins were up 11-4 after one quarter and held a comfortable 23-8 lead at the half.BDS outscored the Griffins 30-21 in the second half, but the damage was done from the solid first half posted by Diller-Odell.Aidan McKinney and Hailee Miller each had 13 points for Diller-Odell while Berkelee Beekman had 11 points.Versus Sterling on Dec. 12, the Lady Griffins edged out the Jets, 47-40.The Griffins were up 15-6 after one quarter and 24-17 at the half. A 14-13 fourth quarter scoring flurry secured the win for Diller-Odell.Top scorer for the Griffins was Hailee Miller with 20 points while Berkelee Beekman had 11 and Madisyn Rosebaugh had nine points. Aidan McKinney ended with five points. Tri County Dominates DeshlerThe Tri County girls basketball team faced Deshler on Dec. 9 and it wasn’t close. The Lady Trojans won 71-24, pushing Tri County to 3-0.T.C. has been averaging 66.3 points per game thus far this season.Leading T.C. in scoring is Rylan Beerenstrauch with 15.0 points per game.This game, however, Tri County was led by Isabelle Peters with 18 points while Beerenstrauch had 10, with 14 points from Macey Gronemeyer.Claire Schnuelle had nine rebounds for T.C. while Sayber Hoesche and Peters each had eight. Brooke Morgan had six rebounds.On defense, Beerenstrauch was all over the offense of Deshler, ending the game with eight steals. Peters had six steals and Hoesche three. Kenzi Scherling and Peters each had a block in the game for the Trojans. Leading T.C. in assists was Sage Holtmeier with five. Peters had four and Beerenstrauch had three.On Dec. 12, the Lady Trojans defeated Wymore, 34-26 before facing Sandy Creek on Dec. 13.Raiders Pound DragonsOn Dec. 9, the Wymore Southern girls basketball team faced Johnson County Central.Jaylin Klover led the Raiders with six points, while Hadlee Maxson finished with four points, three for Annika Glynn.Klover had nine rebounds, five for Glynn and Maxson led the team with seven steals. Emma Eisenhauer had two assists to lead the Raiders.The Lady Raiders continued their busy week on the court facing Tri County on Dec. 12, dropping the game 26-34.On Dec. 13 the Raiders dropped Deshler in a big way, winning 52-35.So far this season, Hadlee Maxson leads the Lady Raiders in points per game, assists per game and steals per game. Wolverines Beat Superior By 30The Wilber-Clatonia lost to Raymond Central on Dec. 11, 19-62, and then on Dec. 13 picked up a win over Superior, 53-23.Kariss Rosenthal leads the Wolverines in three stat categories thus far this season: points per game (20.5), rebounds per game (8.0) and steals per game (2.5). Meridian Drops TwoMeridian’s girls basketball team faced Lawrence-Nelson on Dec. 9 and lost 12-50.Leading scorer for Meridian was Jaycee Schwisow with seven points while Jetta Stewart had five.Tiffany Vinsonhaler had a team high seven rebounds for Meridian while Schwisow and Stewart each had six boards. Vinsonhaler had two assists and senior Olivia Schafer had a solid game with two boards, one assist, two steals and two blocks.Schwisow posted a team high five blocks for Meridian with one steal and six boards. Ximena Nunez had two steals and one block to go with three rebounds against Lawrence-Nelson.On Dec. 13, Cross County won 57-12 over Meridian.
