Gage County Supervisor Elected NACO Officer

Gage County Supervisor Emily Haxby was elected Secretary-Treasurer of the NACO (Nebraska Association of County Officials) board. The vote was held last week at the 2025 Annual NACO Conference in Kearney.Jefferson County Commissioner Mark Schoenrock spoke in support of Haxby at the conference Thursday afternoon, “She has served as President and Vice President of our NACO Southeast District. She has served as the Gage County Vice Chairman for four years. She is a leader on the Gage County board and has led many efforts to improve the lives of our fellow citizens, not only in Gage County, but for all of Nebraska. She led the effort for Nebraska to receive over $400M in funding to bring high speed fiber to hundreds of previously designated unserved and underserved locations across our state. Without Emily’s efforts, the total funding to Nebraska would have been much lower with many more locations never receiving high speed internet. Even on the Gage County project, she was busy on the phone the very day she was going in to give birth to her youngest child Beckett, and two days later she was doing contract negotiations to get agreements finalized. That is commitment and dedication.” Schoenrock said, “Emily Haxby is the leader we need now on the NACO board. We all know the many challenges that are facing Nebraska county government now and into the future. Emily has the skills, experience, knowledge, dedication and commitment to lead NACO through those challenges. I am proud to call her my friend and strongly endorse her to be our next NACO Secretary Treasurer.
