Randall Compton

Randall Keith “Randy” Compton was born on October 28, 1951, to Lester and Fern (Schmitt) Compton in Fairbury, and passed away on January 17, 2026, at Fairview Manor in Fairmont, NE, at the age of 74. He was the oldest of 3 children in the family.Randy was born in Fairbury, and made several moves with his family during his Kindergarten through 12th-grade school years, including Aurora, Superior, and Norfolk, all in Nebraska. He graduated from Superior High School in 1970. When Randy was 25, he moved to Sheldon, IA., where he lived and worked at Village Northwest Unlimited for 40 years. He made his final move to Fairview Manor in Fairmont, NE, where he finished his journey in life here on earth.Randy was a joy and a bright shining light to everyone lucky enough to know him. He could effortlessly soften the heart of anyone he came in contact with. I’ve had many people tell me they felt honored having known Randy, myself included. Randy had a love for music and ask anyone who met him, and they quickly knew he was a huge sports fan. He also enjoyed a good whiskey and Coke on occasion and dancing. He was pretty light on his wheels.Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Keith and Fern Compton, his grandparents, many aunts and uncles, and several cousins. He is survived by his brother and his wife, Jeff and Ruby Compton of Rowlett, TX, and his sister, Colleen (Coke) Foote, of Exeter, NE. He also has several step-nieces and nephews, along with many cousins.Thank you to the countless people who have cared for Randy and have been a part of his life. We are all better for having known him. A Memorial Service for Randy will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., at the Fairview Manor Chapel in Fairmont, Nebraska, with Reverend Tiffani Brewer presiding. No visitation will be held as it was Randy’s wishes to be cremated.Private Family Committal of Ashes will be held at a later date at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Norfolk, Nebraska.
