Hosts TriangularTri County had a triangular with Crete and Wilber-Clatonia on Jan. 29.Against W-C, at 106-pounds, Rylan Bergmeier defeated Connor Bridges (1:46), while at 138-pounds, Grant Eschiti of W-C defeated Henry Holtmeier (1:40).Logan Zimmerman of W-C, defeated Jason Sullivan of T.C. at 144-pounds.Ty Roesler of W-C (165-pounds) defeated Brycen Kapke of T.C. (:47).Sean Chase, Jr., of T.C. got the win over Harry Capelle (2:13) at the 190-pound division while Nick Sullivan (190-pounds) of Tri County defeated W-C’s Gavin Steffensmeier.Tri County’s 285-pound wrestler, Luic Alarcon, defeated Sam Anaya of W-C (1:50).Against Crete, Bergmeier won over Tracen Paulsen (:35) and Cade Spahr of T.C. (126-pounds) won over Greyer Slevin (3:00).At 138-pounds for Tri County, Henry Holtmeier, defeated Nicolas Simon (3:23) while Jason Sullivan of the Trojans (144-pounds) dispatched Eh-Pwod Say (2:32).At 144-pounds, Carver Olberding of T.C. defeated Jase Korbelik (:25) and Ivan Manjarrez (1:18) of Crete.Keyton Reck (165-pounds) of T.C. defeated Santiago Rincon of Crete (5:42) before Chase, Jr., at 190-pounds defeated Anderson Hoesche (2:00).Brodie Chase (190-pounds) of Tri County defeated Ronal Pineda-Pachero in 1:49 while Luis Alarcon of T.C. downed Gio Carrera of Crete in :32.When W-C faced Crete, Logan Zimmerman defeated Max Littrell (1:14) at 138-pounds.Ty Roesler went over Bryten Ybarra (1:12) at 165-pounds and Elisha Klabenes (190-pounds) of W-C defeated Crete’s Ronal Pineda-Pacheco (:54). Several Titles Won By Area Athletes At SNCTri County hosted the Southern Nebraska Conference tournament on Jan. 31. Many area athletes had fantastic turnouts with champions crowned.At 106-pounds, Rylan Bergmeier started off his day against Connor Bridges of Wilber-Clatonia and Bergmeier won in 3:06. Bergmeier then went on to defeat Kaelan Hiatt of Superior and won the title in 1:16.Bridges would go on to defeat Colson Nicolas, 13-2, before finishing fourth against Ryan Gurnsey of Milford.Jaxson Bowers of Thayer Central won the 113-pound division. He first faced Colton Steager of David City and won in 1:42, before defeating Schweitzer of Milford in 3:34 to claim the title.T hayer Central’s Alex Vorderstrasse (120-pounds) finished second in his class. He first defeated Phillip Schardin of David City (1:18) and then lost against Kayden Bolejack of Fillmore Central in the finals (1:28).Coming in fourth at the 126-pound class was Cade Spahr of Tri County. He lost his opening match, 4-9, to Jonny Kohout of Milford before winning in the consolation round (1:58) over Tobey Kline of Centennial. Spahr lost a tight third place match, 4-8, to Hudson Lefever of Fillmore Central. Wilber-Clatonia’s Grant Eschiti (132-pounds) had three wins to win the championship. He defeated Manny Venegas of David City, Korey Poppe of Sutton (1:25) and Aiden Mostek of Thayer Central (:31).Gavin Gerths of Fairbury was third at 138-pounds. He had wins over Owen Spray of Sandy Creek twice, (2:08 and :40) and Ayden Schloendorn of Thayer Central (3:43).Fighting his way through the consolation rounds to finish third at 150-pounds was Gabriel Alarcon. He first faced Carson McLaughlin of Thayer Central and won in 5:43 before dropping the semi-final to Kamden Boyles of Superior.Alarcon defeated Zephyr Mowinkel of Milford (3:41) in the consolation semi-finals and would face McLaughlin in the third place finals, getting a 6-0 win.At 157-pounds for Fairbury, Dakota Zimmerman had a win over Kaleb Bonar of Thayer Central (4:35) before dropping to eventual winner Chase Myers of Fillmore Central. Zimmerman defeated Reciel Nieves of David City (1:47) and then captured the third place title over Kaleb Bonar of Thayer Central (:50).Also at 157-pounds, Keyton Reck defeated Reciel Nieves of David City (3:04) and then lost to Kaleb Bonar of Thayer Central 6-9.To get to the finals, McLaughlin defeated Garrett Smalls of David City (2:45) and then downed Tysen Saatman of Fillmore Central (4:47). Wilber-Clatonia’s Ty Roesler (165-pounds) won his division, defeating Cory Langenberg of Milford (15-6). Roesler defeated Brycen Kapke of Tri County in the opening round (:33) and then picked up a win over Johnny Hinz of Superior (:41). Taking home the 175-pound division for Fairbury was senior Konrad Kuzelka. He easily dispatched Jackson Gerdes of Sandy Creek (3:23) before heading to the finals and dominated Griffin Bergen of Sutton (:50).Carter Johnson of Fairbury was fourth. He had wins over Barron Roth of Milford (2:16) and Sean Chase Jr., of Tri County (4:58). Thayer Central’s Cole Vorderstrasse won the 215-pound class with a win over Garrett Roelfs of Fairbury (1:10).Vorderstrasse defeated Gavin Steffensmeier of Wilber-Clatonia (1:10) before pinning Aydin Banta of Sutton (:52).Nick Sullivan of Tri County (215-pounds) defeated David Hodges of Superior (1:19) before facing Garrett Roelfs. Roelfs won 10-6.Heading to the third place round, Sullivan defeated Jason White of David City (2:07) and won the third place title over Aydin Banta of Sutton (1:50). At 285-pounds, Luis Alarcon of Tri County defeated Max Jasper of David City in the opening round (4:33). Alarcon defeated James Bonar of Thayer Central (7-2) after Bonar defeated Emmett Crawford of Centennial (:34).Bonar would go to the third place round and defeat Peyton Arner of Fairbury (:41). In the third place finals, Bonar defeated Aaron Sanchez of Sutton, 3-0.Also picking up wins included Brently Wilson of Fairbury (144-pounds) over Jason Sullivan of Tri County and Peyton Arner (285-pounds), winning over Jonas Amos of Sandy Creek (:48).
