Fairbury Man Faces Felony Drug Charge

A traffic stop in Fairbury lead to an arrest and a felony drug charge.Brian G. Vculek, age 45, was arraigned in Jefferson County Court on Wednesday, February 11, 2026. Linda Bauer was the presiding judge. The defendant is charged with six counts, the most serious of which is possession of a controlled substance, a class 4 felony punishable by up to two years in prison, 12 months of post-release supervision and a $10,000 fine. He was also charged with two class 1 misdemeanors, obstructing a Peace officer, and resisting arrest, first degree, each punishable by up to one year in jail and a $1,000 fine. Vculeck is also charged with three infractions, failure to use a turn signal, possession of one ounce or less of marijuana, an infraction and possession of drug paraphernalia. Infractions are punishable by fine only.Vculeck was arrested January 12, 2026, during a traffic stop. According to the arrest affidavit, “A probable cause search of Vculek's truck revealed a plastic sandwich bag containing a green leafy substance, a glass pipe, and bong. These items were seized and taken to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. A field test of the white crystal substance displayed a presumptive positive for methamphetamine.” The defendant was asked in court if he wanted court-appointed counsel. Vculek said, “I’ll get my own attorney.”Another hearing is scheduled for March 25, 2026. The defendant remains free on a $10,000 (10 percent) bond.
