Prellwitz To Play For Wesleyan Next Year

“I just love the game.” That statement pretty much sums up Brodie Prellwitz and his future.Prellwitz signed with Wesleyan on Feb. 18 to play basketball next year for the Prairie Wolves.Prellwitz has the stats to back up Wesleyan wanting him to come contribute. He ranks in the top 5 in all-time scoring at Fairbury High School. He summed up how he felt about the occasion of signing in front of his family, teammates and other students by simply stating, “It feels good, I have been waiting for this a long time.”Prellwitz looked at a few other schools, however, he noted his heart was always with Wesleyan.“I had a couple of other schools that I was looking at and some coaches that were texting me, but I chose Wesleyan because I felt it was the best fit for me,” Prellwitz said.He will be taking business administration while at Wesleyan with hopes of someday becoming a sports analyst. During his senior season, according to MaxPreps, Prellwitz is averaging 14.9 points-per-game, 4.4 rebounds-per-game, 2.5 assists-per-game and 1.8 steals-per-game. Against H&H Prellwitz had a season high 23 points and scored 20 or more points in five games this season.For Prellwitz, he prides himself on being at the right place at the right time for his teammates.“ I am a teammate kind of guy,” Prellwitz said, noting the strongest part of his game is facilitating, “Making sure everyone is in the right spots and making sure my teammates are open.”Fairbury High School Boys Basketball Coach, Ryan Garver, also a Wesleyan alum, noted that when he first saw the skills and passion for the game Prellwitz had, he wondered what the future would hold.“He loved basketball, I saw that from the beginning,” Garver said. “He took off with it and played in Lincoln and play all over and just get on the court whenever he could. I love the energy he brought to that and to our program.”Garver said Prellwitz has been a leader on and off the court and he was very proud of the player and person he has become. Dale Wellman, head coach of Wesleyan Men’s Basketball, said, “Coach Garver, having played for me, knows what works well in our system and the type of guys that fit well in our culture. I trust him wholeheartedly and he had nothing but good things to say about Brodie on and off the court. He drives the ball well, is hard working, and has a good understanding of the game, which will help with the learning curve moving onto college basketball.”
