Mikel Balderson

Mikel “Mike” Lee Balderson, 66, passed away on February 26, 2026, after a three-year battle with cancer.Mike was born on August 7, 1959, in Sacramento, California, to Norman and Darlene Balderson. He grew up in Diller and Odell, Nebraska, and graduated from Diller High School in 1977. He dedicated his career to public service, working for the State of Nebraska in the field of safety and security, including time with NSP and BSDC, where he earned the respect of colleagues for his diligence, integrity, and dedication. In addition to his professional work, Mike devoted many years to coaching baseball and football while his son Bryce was growing up, generously giving his time and steady guidance. On August 27, 1983, he married Rhonda Rae Landenberger. He was a proud father to Bryce Mikel Balderson.Mike enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing, and golfing. He was a devoted fan of the Tennessee Volunteers and rarely missed a chance to follow his team. Known for saying, “It is what it is,” Mike approached life with a straightforward outlook. He never met a stranger, and those who knew him couldn’t help but like him.He was preceded in death by his mother, Darlene Balderson; his brother-in-law, Robert Bybee; his niece, Krystine Bybee; and his father-in-law, Kenneth Ray Landenberger. He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Landenberger Balderson; his son, Bryce Balderson; his grandchildren, Charlotte Mae and Amilia Mae Balderson; his father, Norman Balderson; mother-in-law, Judy Landenberger; the families of, Randy Balderson, Kathleen Bybee, Brenda Engelman, Mike Landenberger, Stephanie Scheele, Brett Landenberger and Tracey Landenberger; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and extended family. In accordance with Mike’s wishes, no formal funeral service will be held.
