Track Season Starts With Indoor Meet

With topsy-turvy weather in Nebraska in March it was a good idea to have an indoor meeton Friday, March 20. Concordia hosted an indoor meet and Wilber-Clatonia’s boys were third, Meridian 14th. For the girls, the Lady Wolverines were fifth, Diller-Odell 10th.

Grayson Vlcan of W-C was fourth in the 400m (:55.08) and Addison Brandt sixth ):55.42). For Diller-Odell, Drake Day was seventh (:55.84) and Peyton Humphreys was eighth (:55.94). Rounding out the top 10 for the Griffins was Zach Schnuelle (:57.3).
Wolverine senior Grant Eschiti won the 800m (2:07.54), a personal best. W-C senior Ryan Nicholson was seventh (2:16.34). Evan Odvody of W-C won the 1600m (5:03.09). with teammate Beau Odvody placing eighth (5:21.49).
Aidan Wright of W-C was sixth in the 3200m (12:23.74) and Leon Slowik was ninth (14:50.79).
Addison Brandt was sixth in the 60m hurdles (:9.53) while Jayton Jones of Meridian was seventh (:9.89) and Aven Smith of W-C was eighth (:.9.89).
W-C’s 4x400m relay team won (3:39.94) and Diller-Odell was eighth (3:58.5).
In the field events, Jayton Jones of Meridian was fifth in the shot put (43’3”), a personal best.
Colby Smith of Meridian was fourth in the high jump (5’10”) and Aven Smith of W-C was 10th (5’6”).
W-C sophomore Crew Pulliam was third in the pole vault (11’), a personal best. While Ryan Nicholson was sixth for W-C (10’).
Grayson Vlcan of W-C was third in the long jump with a personal best (20’8”).
Vlcan was seventh in the triple jump (38’4”), a personal best.
For the ladies, Brynn Zajicek of W-C was seventh in the 60m (:8.55), while Gabrielle Vlcan was fifth in the 200m (:28.55) and Zajicek was eighth (:29.13).
Vlcan finished third in the 400m (1:05.22) and Hadley Jurgens was 10th in the 800m (2:54.39) (PB).
Diller-Odell’s Mallory Schwab was seventh in the 1600m (6:19.03) (PB) and was third in the 3200m (13:40.31) (PB).
Luzdary Anguiano of W-C won the 60m hurdles (:9.86) and the W-C 4x400m girls relay team won (4:28.47).
W-C’s 4x800m relay team was ninth (12:15.86) with team members being Haleah Schuerman, Kariss Rosenthal, Hadley Jurgens and Alysa Zoubek.

Aidan McKinney of Diller-Odell was second in the high jump and third in the long jump, setting a new school record in the long jump.
