A Plethora Of Area Athletes Going To Burke Stadium For State Track

Six Jeffs Headed To OmahaFor the Fairbury Jeffs, six were sent off to Burke Stadium.In the field events Nic Smith will be competing in triple jump. At the Class B-3 Districts Smith was able to qualify as he placed third with a distance of 40’1.50”. For Autumn L’Ecuyer, qualifying for state in the shot put with a distance of 39’8.25” gave her at second place for districts. Lily Davis was able to qualify for the pole vault as she reached a Personal Record (PR) height taking second place with 10’2”. Lily Davis, along with Micah Friesen, Sam Starr and Ann-Katrin Mueller in the 4x800-meter were a model of consistency throughout the season and the relay running to second place with a time 10:03.58 would qualify them with plenty of momentum headed off to state.The duo of Sam Starr and Ann-Katrin Mueller was able to put of some great efforts and qualified for other events as well. Starr would take fourth in the 800-meter run as she ran a season best 2:24.07 while Mueller would run a PR time of 11:57.98 in the 3200-meter run giving her fifth and in the 1600-meter run clocked in another PR time of 5:31.91 which was good for fourth place.For the Fairbury Jeffs in Class B, with weather permitting starts on Wednesday, May 15 and will end on Thursday, May 16. Henrichs Representing SouthernFor the Southern Raiders, one lone raider is Burke bound with that being Karrigan Henrichs. Henrichs would go on to place second in the discus as she qualified for state by setting a PR distance of 112’3”.Henrichs will be competing on Friday, May 17 as the Class C girls discus will begin at 12 p.m.Three Titans State-BoundThe Thayer Central Titans send a trio of Titans off to Burke Stadium with Cole Vorderstrasse, Isabella Escritt, and Meigha Schmidt.For Cole Vorderstrasse, the double duty of qualifying for discus and shot put. Vorderstrasse would take second in the discus throwing a qualifying distance of 158’5” and would go on to qualify in the shot put as he set another school record this year with a throw reaching a distance of 56’7” which was good for first place. For Meigha Schmidt, reaching a season best height of 4’11” was able to help her qualify for state and give her second place. Isabella Escritt would set a PR time in the 100-meter dash as she qualified for state with a time of :13.04 which was good for second place and would take first place in the 200-meter dash as she ran a time of :26.93.For the Class C section of state track, Friday, May 17 and Saturday, May 18 with both days starting at 9 a.m. Ten Athletes For Diller-Odell Going To StateThe Diller-Odell Griffins were able to send a handful with 10 athletes bound and determined for Burke Stadium.For the D-O boys Callan McKinney was able to qualify with spectacular efforts as he took first in the triple jump with a PR distance of 42’2.25” and in the long jump took first with a distance of 20’7.50”. McKinney, along with Peyton Humphreys, Xavier Zabokrtsky and Teghan Rosebaugh in the 4x100-meter relay were able to qualify with a time of :45.45 which placed them at third for districts. Teghan Rosebaugh will also have the 100-meter dash to compete in as he was able to set a PR time to qualify for state with a time of :11.15 which was good for second place.The D-O girls have two relays qualifying 4x100-meter relay with Sidney Engleman, Aidan McKinney, Keira Hennerberg and Myleigh Weers were able to take second at Districts with a time of :52.44 and the 4x800-meter relay with Keira Hennerberg, Kenzie Strein, Gabby Long and Myleigh Weers captured first place running a solid time of 10:15.40. Myleigh Weers will have a full plate in addition to the relay events as she qualified for the 400-meter dash taking first with a PR time of :59.78 and took first in the 800-meter run as well with a time of 2:25.94.For the Class D section of state track, Friday, May 17 and Saturday, May 18 with both days starting at 9 a.m. Smith, Kumpf Headed To StateThe Meridian Mustangs send off eight to Burke Stadium this year. The duo of Colby Smith and Kolton Kumpf for the boys will be competing in the field events. Kolton Kumpf was able to set a PR distance with a throw of 50’3.75” getting him first place and Colby Smith would go on to take third with a season best effort in the high jump as he qualified with a height of 5’11”.For the Meridian Lady Mustangs, the handful of qualifiers coming from the 4x100 and 4x800 relays. The 4x100-meter relay with McKenzie Hofstetter, Saege Barnell, Braxtyn Rut and Tyleiah Gooding, qualifying for state with a time of :52.80 placed them at third for districts. While the 4x800-meter relay with McKenzie Hofstetter, Maria Dimas, Kendall Filipi, and Evelyn Woitalewicz placed fourth, but ran a qualifying time of 10:37.33.Individually McKenzie Hofstetter will be competing in the pole vault as she took second to qualify with 8’ at Districts, Kendall Filipi in the 300-meter hurdles grabbed fifth place while qualifying with a PR time of :50.10 and Tyleiah Gooding in the 100-meter hurdles was able to qualify taking third with a time of :16.90.For the Class D section of State track, Friday, May 17 and Saturday, May 18 with both days starting at 9 a.m. Tri County Sending Seven To StateThe Tri County Trojans have a solid district as they’ll send seven to Burke Stadium with Kennade Van Winkle, Isabella Peters, Cooper Stokebrand, Tayden Gronemeyer, Sam Holsing, Lucas Lewandowski and Dustin Kapke.For the duo of Kennadee Van Winkle and Isabella Peters, one for the field and one on the track. Isabella Peters was able to qualify for the 3200-meter run with a time of 12:25.85 as she was able to take first place in that event while Kennadee Van Winkle was able to set a PR height in pole vault as she reached 10’ while taking second place.Of the five boys being sent to Burke, the duo of Dustin Kapke and Cooper Stokebrand were able to qualify in two events. Dustin Kapke was able to qualify for the 300-meter hurdles running the time of :42.76 that placed him third in that event and took first place in the 110-meter hurdles as he clocked in a time of :15.75. Cooper Stokebrand had a great districts as he was able to qualify in shot put with a PR throw of 50’3” which placed him at fourth and in the discus took first place with a PR throw of 161’9”.Lucas Lewandowski was able to set a PR for himself as well with the 800-meter run as Lewandowski took first in that event running 2:04.81 to qualify for state. Sam Holsing will be in the 3200-meter run as he too set a PR time and took first well with a time of 10:26.90. Tayden Gronemeyer was able to qualify in the pole vault as he would reach a height of 12’ placing him at second.For the Class C section of State track, Friday, May 17 and Saturday, May 18 with both days starting at 9 a.m. Wolverines Preparing For StateThe Wilber-Clatonia Wolverines send off six to Burke Stadium. For the lady Wolverines the duo of Diamond Thompson and Madison Vogel will be representing W-C with Thompson qualifying for the 200-meter dash with second place finish at districts running a time of :27.05 and took first place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.97.The one relay to qualify for State for W-C was the the 4x100-meter relay with Roberto Torres, Henry Prokop, Carter Skleba, and Cash Keslar as they took first in districts with a time of :44.42. The duo of Cash Keslar and Carter Skleba will be active in other events as Skleba took second in the long jump to qualify with a leap of 20’8.75” and in the triple jump took second with a qualifying jump of 40’11.5”. Cash Keslar will be in the 110-meter hurdles as he qualified with a PR time of :16.27. Jorge Vazquez was able to qualify for two events as well as he would have a season best throw in the shot put with a toss of 51’5” which placed him at second and in the discus snagged fourth with a qualifying throw of 146’8”.For the Class C section of State track, Friday, May 17 and Saturday, May 18 with both days starting at 9 a.m.
