Adaline Linscott: National Queen

Adaline Linscott may live in what some consider a small town, but she has always had dreams that did not have borders.At the age of six Linscott participated in her first pageant. Living in Wilber at the time, she entered and won a local talent show. It was recommended she try pageants.Eventually Linscott would rise through the ranks of several pageant systems, competing at a national level. Princess of America was a pageant system Linscott had previously tried in elementary school and decided to come back to it now that she was ending her high school career.This February, she was crowned Miss Nebraska through the Princess of America system and earned her chance to compete at the national pageant in the Miss Division (ages 16-18) in Branson, Missouri, July 18-23. The weeklong competition had several divisions, from talent, formal wear, interview to modeling and the main pageant featured an on-stage question and personal introduction.After hours of hard work preparing for the competition, and years on stage, Linscott stood with Savannah Meadows, holding hands, encouraging one another.‘Your new Princess of America Junior Miss is…Adaline Linscott,” rang out in the auditorium and Linscott was overcome with pure, raw emotion.After settling into being a national queen, Linscott has been using her status and national platform to perpetuate her platform: Autism, Beyond Awareness.Linscott’s younger brother, Elijah, is on the autism spectrum and Linscott advocates, educates and motivates people about the autism spectrum at every opportunity.Being from a small community has been an advantage in Linscott’s competitive pageant world.“I like to think of being from a small community as an advantage because it allows me to connect with lots of different people and keep those connections going throughout my reign,” Linscott said. “I like being from a small town because the people are friendly and those connections you make I don’t think you necessarily get in larger communities.”The example Linscott gave was shortly after winning her title, she decided to go through the annual Czech Days parade in Wilber. Twin Rivers, a local car dealership, was eager to help out and let her borrow a Jeep for the parade.“Because it is a samller community, I can get close to the people I work with and in a big city, I may see them one time and not work with them again,” Linscott said.There is a sense of community that Linscott appreciates while living in a small community and she genuinely likes being a small-town girl.“There are a lot of people in my community who have supported me throughout my entire reign leading up to nationals, which made me feel supported and empowered because I knew there were people rooting for me and watching me get to nationals,” Linscott said.For any young lady wanting to enter the pageant world and may think because they are from a small community, it may be a disadvantage, Linscott notes that time has no city limit.“If you are willing to put in the work and give effort to the goals you want to accomplish, whether it is pageants or another activity you are into, if you put in that time, then you can compete against anyone, from anywhere,” Linscott said.
