Alexandria Man Arrested After Missing Court Again, Faces New Charges

An Alexandria man with a history of missing court was arrested this week.On December 7, 2025, Thayer County Sheriff's Deputies executed a felony arrest warrant with additional search warrant in the 100 block of 4th Street in Alexandria. Jesse Durflinger, age 35, was arrested on a felony warrant out of Jefferson County for failure to appear on an original felony possession of controlled substance charge.In Jefferson County, Durflinger is charged with possession of a controlled substance, a class 4 felony punishable by up to two years in prison and a $10,000 fine. He is also charged with driving under a suspended license and improper or defective lighting, both class 3 misdemeanors punishable by up to three months in jail and a $500 fine. Durflinger was scheduled to appear in Jefferson County District Court on Thursday, December 4, 2025. Judge David J.A. Bargen noted the defendant has a history of failing to appear for court and issued a warrant. Bond was set at $50,000 (10 percent).As a result of the search warrant Thayer County Deputies are asking the county attorney, Joseph Casson, that additional charges be filed against Durflinger. The charges requested include two counts of a felon in possession of deadly weapon, possession of controlled substance (methamphetamine) and two counts of driving during suspension pertaining to earlier cases involving Durflinger.Durflinger was transported to the Jefferson County Jail. Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Nebraska State Patrol. On December 10, 2025, Durflinger appeared in Jefferson County Court via webcam from jail on an unrelated case. Linda Bauer was the presiding judge.In county court, Durflinger is charged with driving without proof of insurance, a class 2 misdemeanor; driving without registration and under a suspended license, both class 3 misdemeanors; as well as driving a motorcycle without a motor license and without a helmet, both infractions.When told he was likely facing felony charges due to his arrest in Thayer County, Durflinger said, “That doesn’t sound good.”
