Alexandria Woman’s Probation Revoked

Jefferson County District Court has revoked the probation of an Alexandria woman and sent her back to jail.MaryAnn Flinn, age 52, appeared in Jefferson County District Court on Thursday, January 2, 2024. David J.A. Bargen was the presiding judge.Flinn was originally charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine and THC), a class 4 felony punishable by two years in prison, nine to 12 months of post-release supervision and a $10,000 fine for each count. In 2022, Flinn was one of five suspects arrested in a drug bust in Fairbury.On December 16, at approximately 7:45 p.m., deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office conducted a Narcotics Search Warrant on a residence at the 1000 block of B Street in Fairbury. Upon entry, five adults and two minor children were located on the premises. According to the Sheriff's Office, multiple controlled substances and related items were found in the residence, including: methamphetamine, marijuana, THC wax, and “numerous paraphernalia items.” In accordance with a plea agreement, Flinn pleaded No Contest to two counts of attempted possession, a class 1 misdemeanor, and on August 3, 2023, and was sentenced to 36 months of probation.A Motion to Revoke Probation was filed with the court on August 14, 2024. According to that motion, “Since June 12, 2024 the Defendant has been called for ten UA (urinalysis ) tests: 6 are unexcused no-show; 1 is tampered; 1 is lab confirmed positive for Methamphetamine; 1 is lab confirmed positive for Methamphetamine and amphetamine; 1 is refused.” The motion also alleges the defendant failed to participate in or complete treatment programs.Flinn was represented by Public Defender Scott Gropp, who asked the court to extend her prpobation. Gropp said, “My client recognizes she has not complied with certain parts of her probation.”“I can do this,” Flinn told the court. “Please.” The Probation Office recommended a straight sentence.Judge Bargen determined Flinn as not a fit candidate for probation, “Frankly, its too little, too late.”Flinn was given 365 days in jail, with credit for 14 days time served. She was then remanded to the custody of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office to carry out the sentence.
