All Conference Selections Include Area Athletes

Conference/District SelectionFairbury: Korey NippertReceiving a Class C-1 All-District first team selection was senior Korey Nippert. Korey took the helm at quarterback and on the year, Nippert had thrown two touchdowns while averaging 43.9 passing yards per game. In addition, he would also take 80 carries on the ground to average 5.2 yards per carry averaging 46.2 yards per game and scored two rushing touchdowns. Defensively, Nippert would rack up a total of 45 tackles, two being for a loss with one sack as he would average five tackles per game and one pass deflection. Konrad KuzelkaReceiving a Class C-1 All-District first team selection was junior Konrad Kuzelka. Konrad was a force on the defensive side. Holding the edge as defensive end, Kuzelka led Fairbury with 11.4 tackles per game, snagged a total of 103 tackles, 54 being solo with 49 assisted. Along with 18 tackles being for a loss with two sacks, two pass deflections, one caused fumble and one blocked field-goal.Honorable Mention: Dalton Vanlaningham: Earning a honorable mention to the Class C-1 District was senior Dalton Vanlaningham. On the ground Dalton was able to take 72 carries for 261 yards, averaging 3.6 yards per carry and 29 yards per game as he finished the year scoring two rushing touchdowns. Not to mention just under 10 catches with nine on the year with 41 receiving yards. Jaret Wood: Receiving a honorable mention to the Class C-1 District was junior Jaret Wood. Jaret was able to contribute 401 yards on the ground with a solid average of six yards per carry and 44.6 yards per game while finishing the year with two rushing touchdowns, along with two receptions that went for 15 yards. For his defensive effort Jaret was able to come in second for tackles on the team with 78, 33 being solo and 45 assisted. He finished with five tackles for loss, two sacks, one pas deflection, one caused fumble and led the team with four fumble recoveries on the year. Nic Smith: Receiving a honorable mention to the Class C-1 District was junior Nic Smith. A bit of doing it all, a nice total of 561 all purpose yards as Smith would finish the year with 10 receptions for a total of 102 yards, took 19 carries for 80 yards on a four yard average and took 20 kick-return opportunities for 379 yards with a 20 yard average per return. For the defense, Nic would have 15 total tackles with three pass deflections. Rene Monterroso: Receiving a honorable mention to the Class C-1 District was junior Rene Monterroso. A formidable force on the defensive line coming in third for total tackles on the team as he would finish with 75. Monterroso would have 39 solo tackles, 36 being assisted with a 8.3 average per game and had six tackles for loss, with two sacks, two caused fumbles and one recovery.Meridian:1st Team JD Adam-Coming away with a Class D6-3 District first team running back selection was senior JD Adam. A career high year for JD as he took 148 carries for 785 yards on a five yard average per carry and finished with a 98 yard average per game. Scoring a total of 14 rushing touchdowns, and surpassing the 100 yard marker four times in the season. Adam would not be left out of the receiving game as he came up with a dozen receptions for 149 yards and scored two receiving touchdowns. Kyan Sones: Coming away with a Class D6-3 District first team defensive line selection was junior Kyan Sones. Showing the athletic prowess in 6-man football as a lineman is no easy task, Sones was able to finish the year with a 5.4 tackle average and a total of 43 tackles with one sack as well, all of which were career highs. Jayton Jones: Making a splash in the first year with a Class D6-3 first team defensive back selection was freshman Jayton Jones. Jayton showed a solid ability for making a tackle as he finished with a total of 48 tackles and averaged six tackles per game. Where Jones really opened up eyes on the season was in the pass defense for Meridian as he led the team with a total of nine interceptions showing a lot of promise for the years to come.Second Team: Maddox Haake: Earning a Class D6-3 District second team quarterback selection was sophomore Maddox Haake. Maddox was able to have a productive first year at the helm of QB completing 23 passes on 39 attempts for 305 yards. With seven passing touchdowns and three interceptions, averaging 13.3 yards per throw and 38 yards per game. Haake was able to contribute on the ground as well as he had 47 carries go for 317 yards with a 6.7 yard average, scored two rushing touchdowns and surpassed the 100 yard mark once on the season.Honorable Mention: Sam Thomas: Receiving a Class D6-3 District honorable mention was senior Sam Thomas for defense.
