Apace To Hold Fundraiser For Day Center

Apace will be holding a fundraiser Saturday, October 5, for improvements to the day Center in Fairbury.Brianna Georgeson, Development Director-Foundation for Apace, hopes eventually to find a new location or build a new day center, but that will not happen right away. She said, “The Day Center that we have been occupying has served us very well, but the time has come. It is outdated, it is a run down building, and it is actually too much space because it was primarily used as more of a workshop, and we don’t utilize the space in the same way anymore, and so our goal is to raise funds so that we can get the individuals that we support moved into a space that makes more sense.”The intention is to sell the existing facility and use the proceeds to assist in constructing the new day center. However, the sale along will not cover all the necessary costs. Therefore, Apace is launching a fundraising campaign. Apace currently supports 26 people in Fairbury with intellectual and developmental disabilities.The event will be held at the Elks Lodge, 525 G Street in Fairbury, starting at 5:00 p.m. teams of four will complete to completed a 300-piece puzzle, consume a large pizza and beers. The first three teams to completed the tasks will win prizes.
