Area Athletes Have Outstanding Performances At State Track,Led By Kaylee Pribyl of Meridian With Two Gold Medals

The Meridian Mustangs came back from Omaha with gold and gained some experiences for what will hope to be returning trips to Burke Stadium.For one particular Lady Mustang, history was made again as Kaylee Pribyl defended her title and became a two-time Class D pole vault champion reaching the height of 11’’00 even. Pribyl was not done there as she had one last standout performance as she became a career three-gold medal winner by taking first in the long jump with the distance of 17-00 even capping off quite the career at Meridian.For Dylan Peterson qualifying for the 1600 meter run finished with the good time of 5:08.93 to end his career as a Mustang.For some in the beginning of their track career, taking the route of longer distance was Coby Huls, who was able to get his first experience of the Burke atmosphere with state in the 3200 meter run getting the time of 11:29.00, and Colby Smith in the high jump was successful in his first endeavor at state placing himself among the top 15 by getting the height of 5’10’’ and placing 12th.Meridian Lady Mustangs had many out and around as the 4x800 meter relay placed among the top 15 with 14th as the team of Taelyn Filipi, Maria Dimas, Evelyn Woitalewicz and McKenzie Hofstetter ran the time of 10:58.57.The 4x100 meter relay composed of Ty Gooding, Saege Barnell, Braxtyn Rutt and Kaylee Pribyl clocked in the time of :53.49 placing them at 16th.On the field the Meridian Lady Mustangs had Kailyn Paul qualify for the high jump but was unable to make her opening height and McKenzie Hofstetter also qualified in the triple jump and her best jump reached a distance of 32’9.75”. Jeffs Have Solid Finishes For Class BThe Fairbury Jeffs sent eight to State track and were able to go out on a high note with their season and for some their careers. Individually representing Fairbury came by the efforts of three-time state qualifier and now medalist Devon Carel who placed himself at eighth in the 400 meter run clocking the time of :51.04.Mikya Lierman placed herself among the top ten with ninth place in the pole vault reaching the height of 10’’, while Allison Davis qualified for state her first time and placed herself among the top 15 in Class B by clearing her opening height of 4’11 and placing her at 14th.The Fairbury 4x800 team comprised of Micah Friesen, Lily Davis, Hannah Robertson and Sam Starr along with their alternate Madison Ohlde encouraging them onward were able to run the time of 10:18.55 placing them at 14th as well.To top off the time at state for Fairbury, the record books needed to be changed again one final time in the season as Sam Starr, much as she had shown having the extra kick in for running fuel in the 4x800 relay. She did so again this time in the 800 meter run surpassing many runners on her way to being among the top eight with seventh place by breaking the previous school record and setting a new time of 2:21.83. Titans Show SpeedThayer Central Titans future looks bright with the stellar performances at state track. With the dust settling on the career for Grant Wiedel, a two-time state qualifier with this year his last run being in the 400 meter dash as he would run the time of :55.86 finishing his career.Adam Lukert wsa in the 3200 meter run for his first go at state and placed in the top 20 with 17th by running the time of 10:39.58.The 4x100 meter relay team with Isabella Escritt, Natalie Tietjen, Piper Havel and Jadyn Bowman were able to finish in the top 15 with 13th as they ran the time of :52.08.Piper Havel would be active in other events as the freshman opened up many eyes for her first year of state track by qualifying in four different events.Havel had qualified in the long jump and came away with her best jump reaching a distance of 15’10.25” placing her in the top 15 with 13th. Havel then turned her attention to the racing as she ran a time of :12.64 to qualify for the finals in the 100 meter dash, and would then place in the top five with fourth running the time of :12.78. With plenty of jet fuel left in the tank, Havel qualified for the 200 meter finals as she clocked in at :26.35, and the next day would nearly mirror that time as she placed fourth in the 200 meter dash finals with the time of :26.37 finishing quite a season and records a plenty changed by her efforts with many looking forward to the future.Maguire Represents RaidersThe Southern Raiders had one lone Raider competing at state track with that being the two-time qualifier senior Kale Maguire, who due a late surge and all-or-nothing effort surpassed quite a handful of runners placing Maguire 20th in the 800 meter dash running the time of 2:07.38. Kreshel FourthWilber-Clatonia Wolverines had a focused and ready five competitors at state with Zander Baker qualifying in the pole vault, but unable to make his opening height.A trio of Wolverines were in two events with Carter Skleba as he finished fifth in the long jump with the distance of 20’4.5”, and 10th in the triple jump with a distance of 42’4.5”.Tyson Kreshel saved one of best throws for his second-to-last as he launched a Personal Record (PR) throw of 159’1” in the discuss placing him in the top five with fourth place, and in the discus placed in the top 20 with 16th place by throwing 48’2” in the shot put while being joined in the top 20 by fellow Wolverine Jorge Vazquez throwing 47’6.5” which placed him at 18th.Finally in the racing portion for Wilber-Clatonia Gavin Vlcan was able to run the time of :24.10 in the 200 meter dash, and in the 400 meter dash would place 15th running the time of :52.76. Quality Performances For TrojansTri County had a handful of athletes competing with Colton Bales qualifying for the pole vault, made his opening height but would bow out at 11’06’’.The 4x800 meter relay, consisting of Carter Holtmeier, Lucas Lewandowski, Drew Siems and Carter Siems, finished in the top 10 with sixth place as they ran a time of 8:26.19.Carter Siems would also find himself in the finals of the 400 meter dash with a time of :52.25 giving him eighth and in the 800 meter run finished as runner-up clocking in the time of 1:56.05.Ben Holsing would have himself busy with three events as he placed in the top 20 of the 300 meter hurdles as he ran the time of :43 second flat to finish 16th, ran :23.76 in the 200 meter dash which placed Holsing at 21st and in the 100 meter dash rounded out the top 15 with 15th place by clocking in the time of :11.20.The Tri County Lady Trojans 4x400 meter relay team was Ella Clark,Ashton Schwisow, Abbie Drewes, and Isabelle Peters. They placed in the top 10 with ninth as they clocked in the time of 4:12.06. Ella Clark would also have her own 400 meter dash to run and finished with a time of 1:02.73 placing her at 20th and Isabelle Peters ran in the 800 meter dash getting the time of 2:30.31 which was good for 20th as well. Griffins Reach New HeightsDiller-Odell Griffins are building a bright future with the showing at state track as the 4x400 meter relay team of Keira Hennerberg, Kailyn Dendinger, Maddie Rosebaugh and Myleigh Weers finished in the top 10 with 10th place as they ran the time of 4:21.87.Weers would also run her own 400 meter dash and place in the top ten with sixth as she finished with the time of 1:01.55. Aidan McKinney had qualified for two events as well, though not making opening height, qualified for high jump, and in th the triple jump managed to jump in the top 15 with 12th place with the distance of 33’.5”. Callan McKinney made the most of his first experience with triple jump as he would place himself at eighth with the distance of 41’4.25”.
