Landsharks Take Bite Out Of SMC, 11-5The Fairbury Landsharks traveled north for the Lewis and Clark baseball tournament over the weekend. The Landsharks would start the tournament off with a solid 11-5 victory over SMC Post 140 on Friday, June 7.From that game Blayne Schelbitzki got the win on the mound going seven innings allowing 10 hits and five runs(two earned) as he would walk one and strike out nine.Leading the way for the hits was Blayne Schelbitzki and Blake Starr as each would have three hits and multiple RBI. Schelbitzki was able to score one run, with one double and finished with three RBI. Starr was able to score two runs, draw one walk, snagged one stolen base and brought in two RBI. Dakotah Neumiller, Jakolbe Atkins, Jamison Runge, Miles Tatro, Grady Chappell and Garrett Roelfs each contributed one hit. Tatro and Runge would also each have one RBI.Fairbury must’ve used the run power all in one game as the next few were a challenge. Fairbury would then lose by shutout 0-10 against Blair Post 154 to close out Friday. Then on Saturday, June 8 would lose 1-9 against Yankton and then would lose 3-13 against L.D.S Post one.Fairbury looks to bounce back as they’ll be on the road Tuesday, June 11 facing Marysville, then on Wednesday, June 12 will be at Tri County and on Thursday, June 13 back home hosting Nemaha. Tri County Faces Wymore, FriendTri County goes 1-1 on the weekend as they shutout Wymore on Saturday, June 8 with the final score reaching 8-0. Caden Bales would pitch a second shutout of the year as he went six innings only allowing two hits while striking out 11 in the victory.For the offensive side Pierce Damrow and Cooper Stokebrand led the way as each would have two hits with one RBI as well. Damrow was able to lead the team with four stolen bases. Caden Bales, Maddox Haake, Cole Spahr and Drew Siems each contributed one hit as well. Spahr was able to hit a double and Siems was able lead the team with two RBI.On Sunday, June 9th Tri County would lose it late to Friend with the final score reaching 6-9. In that game only one hit was collected as Cooper Stokebrand brought in three RBI with a double. Tri County showed great poise at the plate as the team was able to draw eight walks as a team with Cole Spahr having two walks drawn to lead the team. Tayden Gronemeyer was able to lead the team with four stolen bases, Pierce Damrow was able to have three stolen bases with Dusty Kapke and Braiden Strouf each having two stolen bases along with Spahr having one stolen base.Tri County will be hosting Fairbury on Wednesday, June 12 and then hit the road on Friday, June 14 as they’ll be facing Adams. Wymore Blanked By Tri CountyWymore falls 0-8 being shutout by Tri County on Saturday, June 8. TJ Vitosh and Braydin Wendland were able to contribute two hits. McKinney took the loss as he allowed five hits with six runs(four earned) with three walks and four strikeouts.Wymore hosted Friend on Monday, June 10 and then hit the road on Wednesday, June 12 facing UBC and then Friday, June 14 will be at Tecumseh. Wilber Slips By ValparaisoThe Wilber Legion Post 101 was able to go 1-1 on the weekend as they gutted out the close 7-6 victory against Valparaiso Post 371. Jack Zimmerman was able to lead the team going two for four at the plate with one RBI brought in.Carter Skleba, Cash Keslar, K Fisher and Ozzie Smith werer able to contribute one hit.Smith’s one hit would end up being a triple. Wilber would later lose the second game against Crete with that score reaching 2-9.Wilber looks to bounce back as they hit the road on Wednesday, June 12 facing Friend.
