Area Baseball Squads Battle Heat In Recent Games

Landsharks Get Win Over Twin RiverOn June 18, the Fairbury Landsharks defeated Twin River on the road, 5-1.After a scoreless first inning, Fairbury struck first on offense with a 1-0 lead. The teams remained scoreless in the third but the Landsharks outpaced Twin River 1-0 in the fourth to go up 2-0. A 2-1 fifth inning put Fairbury in the lead 4-1. In the sixth, Fairbury added another run to get to the 5-1 final.Fairbury was on fire with the bats, out-hitting Twin River 12-4.Jamison Runge was the anchor for the offense for Faibury, getting three hits on the day while another clutch player was Blayne Schelbitzki, hitting a double on one of his three hits and had one RBI. Dakotah Neumiller had two hits, one RBI. Also picking up hits were CJ Goeking (one RBI), Grady Chappell, Lucas Livingston (one RBI) and Landon McBride (one RBI).Dom Joe was dominating on the mound, pitching 11 strikeouts. Wilber Battles JagsFriend Post 183 Jags defeated Wilber Post 101 14-6 on June 16. The Jags were up 10-1 in the fourth when Wilber started a rally, outscoring Friend 5-4 in the fifth but could not make the comeback complete.Karsen Fisher had two hits for Wilber while Graysen Vlcan had one as did RJ Klaasen. Aven Smith, Allen Roger, Collin Kohout and Klaasen each had an RBI.Klaassen knocked in a double in the game. Vlcan, Karson Inderlied and Chase Tachovsky each had a stolen base for Wilber. Tri County Has Comeback Win Over BDSTri County faced a tough offensive squad in Sutton on June 18. Tri County lost 0-15.Cole Spahr had one strikeout pitching.Turning the tide on June 20, Tri County was able to get a 16-0 win over Fairbury. T.C. was up 8-0 after two innings and had an 8-0 third inning to put the game away.For Tri County, Pierce Damrow had two hits, two RBI, Drew Siems had two hits and one RBI. Maddox Haake had two hits, Henry Kapke had two hits, two RBI while Cole Spahr had one hit and three RBI. Jayden James had two hits and two RBI. Alex Paxton had a double for Tri County.Henry Kapke had three strikeouts for Tri County.For Fairbury Miles Tatro and Grady Chappell each had one strikeout pitching for the Landsharks.Tri County defeated BDS on Sunday, June 22, 13-10.BDS had a 9-1 lead after three innings and then Tri County took over. A 4-0 fourth inning for Tri County and a 5-1 fifth inning put Tri County tied 10-all. The pitching for Tri County came through, blanking BDS and the Tri County offense put up three runs.Drew Siems, Cole Spahr and Pierce Damrow led the offense for Tri County. Siems had two hits, three RBI, Damrow, four hits, two RBI. Spahr had three hits, two RBI.Henry Kapke had one hit, two RBI.Jayton Jones had five stolen bases in the game. Damrow and Siems each had three stolen bases. Hitting doubles for T.C. were Spahr, Damrow, Maddox Haake and Kapke.Tayden Gronemeyer had five strikeouts for T.C. on the mound. WDO Face FriendOn June 18, the Friend Jaguars defeated Wymore Diller Odell (WDO) 10-2.Braydin Wendland had two hits, one BRI for WDO. Both of Wendland’s hits were doubles. Carson Goes had a stolen base.
