BoysTrojans Finish SecondAs teams around the area were wrapping up their conference tournaments, others would be moving onward with their season with only a couple weeks left until sub-districts begins.Tri County Trojans looked consistent throughout the month as they have won eight games in a row, their last loss the first week of January.Since then Tri County broke a 40-year dry spell for the MUDECAS championship.The last two games in the conference have shown that Tri County isn’t looking to be slowing down as they would light up the scoreboard 78-40 against Sterling on Tuesday, January 31 and then were able to do the same on Thursday, February 2 winning 72-40 against Friend as they advanced to take on Johnson-Brock for the Pioneer Championship Saturday, February 4.Tri County had a great first half, but were unable to come up with the buckets needed in the second half losing 39-45 as they finish Pioneer Conference runner-up.Jeffs Drop TwoFor the Fairbury Jeffs, the first round loss in the SNC conference to Wilber-Clatonia would have the Jeffs square up against Heartland on Thursday, February 2 losing 44-53.W-C Goes 1-1 At ConferenceWilber-Clatonia looked strong winning the first round of SNC conference against Fairbury 44-31, would win at the buzzer in the quarter-finals against Centennial pulling the upset victory off with a score 48-46, but despite a great effort in the semi-final that required overtime, Wilber-Clatonia wasn’t able to find enough buckets losing 49-55 against David City on Thursday, February 2.Going against Sandy Creek on Saturday, February 4 with third place up for grabs for the Wolverines, and despite a good defensive effort by Wilber-Clatonia.They couldn’t overcome the offensive troubles losing 26-32.Griffins Get Tight WinDiller-Odell Griffins hold onto the 45-43 win on Monday, January 30 against Lourdes Central Catholic, but were unable to get past Johnson-Brocklosing in the Pioneer Conference quarter-finals on Tuesday, January 31, 34-58, but end the tournament on a high note grabbing a solid 55-35 victory against Lewiston on Friday, February 3.From the game on Friday standout performances came by the way of Cooper Morgan scoring a career high of 26 points, came up with 15 rebounds, and had four blocks, while TJ Vitosh scored seven points, grabbed 11 rebounds, had two assists and two steals.Raiders Tangle With BulldogsSouthern Raiders unable to slow down Friend on Tuesday, January 31 losing in the quarter-finals of the Pioneer Conference, 43-57, and would then lose 54-65 to Pawnee City on Friday, February 3.Southern will be back home on Friday, February 10 as they host Thayer Central.East Butler Wins Against MeridianMeridian Mustangs battle but come up short this last week losing 38-55 on Thursday, February 2 to East Butler and on Friday, February 3, losing 42-53. Meridian will be on the road for two of the last three games as they’ll be taking on Friend Thursday, February 9 and then Silver Lake on Friday, February 10.Titans Face Sutton At SNCThayer Central couldn’t slow down Sutton in the first round of SNC losing 40-54 on Monday, January 30, but bounced back well securing the 50-35 win on Saturday, February 4 against Superior.Thayer Central will be back home hosting Hanover on Thursday, February 9 and on the road going against Southern on Friday, February 10. GirlsTrojans, Griffins Face Off At ConferenceTri County Lady Trojans unable to muster enough for comeback losing 42-52 to Diller-Odell in the first round of Pioneer Conference Monday, January 30.Jeffs Lose Tight Game Against Sandy CreekFairbury Lady Jeffs 2nd quarter troubles spells defeat in the first round of the SNC Conference losing 27-44 against David City on Monday, January 30 and then against Sandy Creek on Saturday, February 4 in a tight game lose 36-37.Griffins Get Win Over TrojansDiller-Odell Lady Griffins defense came out strong in the first round as they were able to hold Tri County to 14 points in one half while D-O was able to score 27, withheld the offensive resurgence from their opponents in the second half as they held on tightly to the victory 52-42.Diller-Odell would move on to the quarter-finals as they would go against Lewiston, but would lose 43-51 on Tuesday, January 31, and then on Friday, February 3 would lose 42-49 to Sterling.D-O will then close out the season hosting Friend on Friday, February 10.Raiders Lose By TwoSouthern Lady Raiders start out great but run into offensive troubles losing 21-23 to Pawnee City in the first round of the Pioneer Conference on January 31 and then on February 3 losing a close one 24-28 against Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer. Southern will be back home hosting Thayer Central on Friday.Titans Slide Past David CityThayer Central able move past David City in the quarter-finals 37-30 on January 31 but despite some great defensive efforts in the first in the third quarter, Thayer Central would lose 40-49 to Superior in the semi-final on February 2, but bounced back to end the tournament on a good note winning 39-31 against Centennial February 4.Two games remain in the season as Thayer Central will be home hosting Hanover on Thursday, February 9 and then on the road going against Southern on Friday, February 10.W-C Completes A ComebackWilber-Clatonia come alive to score 17 in the fourth quarter to complete the comeback in the first round of SNC winning 40-34 against Heartland on January 30, but would run into offensive woes losing 5-56 on January 31 in the quarter-finals against Milford.Wilber-Clatonia will be on the road going against David City on Friday, February 10.Meridian Streak At ThreeMeridian Lady Mustangs back to their winning ways as they won three straight last week as they would take the 43-16 victory against High Plains on Janaury 31, another great defensive showing in the 51-29 victory against East Butler on February 2 and then on February 3 would best Osceola 33-21.Meridian will look to continue with this momentum on the road against Friend on Thursday, February 9 and then on the road against Silver Lake Friday, February 10 to close out the season.
