Sub-District BasketballThe regular season had wrapped up and with it sub-district basketball was underway with teams vying for an opportunity to compete at state.Falls City Defeats Lady JeffsThe Fairbury Lady Jeffs were able to give a great fighting effort, but unable to get the shots to fall losing to Falls City on February 14 losing 22-30 in the first round of sub-district action.Madison Ohlde had seven points for Fairbury. Eliza Kroeker had 11 rebounds for Fairbury.Sutton Slips By TitansUnable to pull off the win, the Thayer Central Lady Titans lost 38-45 to Sutton on February 14.Lady Trojans Pick Up Sub-District VictoryThe Tri County Lady Trojans were able to get the first round win of 34-28 February 13 against Johnson County Central, but lost in the second round to Freeman with the final score 35-56 on February 14.Wolverines Clash With RaidersThe Wilber-Clatonia Lady Wolverines clashed with the Southern Lady Raiders on February 14 as W-C was able to pull away with the win 35-23 to advance to the C2-1 sub-district final but would lose to Freeman in a tough battle 22-26 on February 17.Griffins Run Out Of TimeA little more time may have made the difference. The Diller-Odell Lady Griffins stayed consistent, but couldn’t slow down Sacred Heart in the fourth quarter losing 44-53 on February 14.Myleigh Weers had 16 points and five steals while senior Karli Heidemann had a double double with 14 points and 17 rebounds Heidemann had five blocks in the game.Sterling Drops MeridianThe Meridian Lady Mustangs gave a good effort, but were unable to overcome the second quarter slump losing 50-59 to Sterling on February 14. Jaylee Sobotka had a double double with 17 points and 10 boards, while Taelyn Filipi had 14 points.Picking up five assists was Jaala Stewart for Meridian.
