BOYS: The Fairbury Jeffs had one quarter of a misstep with offensive rhythm as they lost in their first round of the Runza Holiday tournament action with a final score 39-45 against B.D.S on Saturday, December 28th. Notable efforts from the Jeffs came by Brodie Prellwitz scoring a team leading 19 points, while grabbing three rebounds, one steal and had one assist. Drew Watson was able to score eight points, grab seven rebounds, along with one assist and one steal.Fairbury looked to hit the road on Monday, December 30th to end the year of 2024 facing Central City with that game ending with a final score 43-61. Fairbury had the opportunity to bounce back and end the tournament on a high note facing Nebraska Christian on Thursday, January 2nd. The Jeffs were able to get the new year off to the right start with a 40-30 win and will look to hosting Diller-Odell on Tuesday, January 7th. The Thayer Central Titans went 1-1 in Holiday tournament action as they pulled off a close 46-44 win against G.A.C.C on Friday, December 27th but then would lose 44-75 to N.B.C on Saturday, December 28th. Thayer Central will return to the court hosting Republic County on Tuesday, January 7th to kick off the new year. The Southern Raiders were able to end 2024 with a win on the road against H.T.R.S on Saturday, December 21st, with the final score 65-44. Top performances from that game came by the trio of Cooper Warford, Kale Ames and Alex Meece. Meece contributed a lucky 13 points with eight rebounds, one assist and one steal. Ames was able to score 18 points, came up with three rebounds, one block, four steals and one three assists. Warford led the team and secured a double-double with 23 points scored, 10 rebounds snagged along with seven assists and three steals.Southern would host Weeping Water on Thursday, January 2nd to kick off the new year with the Raiders running away with the 58-43 victory. Southern will hit the road in the next week as they'll face Freeman on Tuesday, January 7th and then will compete against E.M.F on Thursday, January 9th. The Meridian Mustangs couldn't contain Tri County on Friday, December 27th in Holiday tournament action as the final score reached 37-76. Meridian would then face Diller-Odell on Monday, December 30th to close out the year, unfortunately the Mustangs slow start in the second half spelled defeat with the finals score reaching 39-52. Meridian will look to kick off the new year hosting Hampton on Friday, January 3rd. The Tri County Trojans went 1-1 in Holiday action as they won 76-37 against Meridian on Friday, December 27th and hosted Deshler on Monday, December 30th with the final score reaching . From the game against Meridian, the trio of Drew Siems, Trevor Kapke and Henry Kapke would each have a solid night.Leading the way was Drew Siems as he scored 30 points, nearly had a double-double with nine rebounds, gave out five assists and had four steals. Trevor Kapke would score 17 points, come up with three rebounds, two assists and one steal. Henry Kapke had a lucky 13 points, while coming up with three rebounds, three assists and three steals.To kick off the new year, Tri County will be hosting Deshler on Monday, December 30th. The Diller-Odell Griffins were unable to grab the win against Deshler on Friday, December 27th, with the final score coming to 35-49. Notable efforts came from D-O came by Jack Phillips and Ben Sohl. Phillips was able to score a team leading nine points, with four rebounds and one steal. Sohl scored eight points by shooting a perfect four for four on the court with three rebounds brought down as well.D-O looked to bounce back heading to Meridian on Monday, December 30th, to close out the year of 2024 and did so with a 52-39 victory.D-O will be back on the court as they hit the road for Sterling on Monday, January 6th and then at Fairbury on Tuesday, January 7th to kick off the new year. The Wilber-Clatonia Wolverines edged out the win against Central City on Saturday, December 28th with a final score of 55-50 in the first round of the Runza Holiday tournament. Top efforts from that game came by the trio of Aiden Zajicek, Cash Keslar and Jameson Conway. Zajicek would lead the team scoring 19 points, grabbing two rebounds, two blocks and three assists. Keslar finished second in the scoring with 14 points, came up with three rebounds, one assist and one steal. While Conway secured a double-double with 11 points, 10 rebounds, one block, two steals and two assists.W-C would move on to play B.D.S winning that game 41-37 on Tuesday, December 31st advancing to face Cozad on Thursday, January 2nd.W-C would take runner-up as they would lose that game 49-62 and the Wolverines will look to bounce back as they'll host Syracuse on Tuesday, January 7th and then JCC on Thursday, January 9th. GIRLS: The Fairbury Lady Jeffs were able to grab a win in the first round of the Runza Holiday tournament action against B.D.S on Saturday, December 28th with a final score 57-41. Moved on to face Central City on Monday, December 30th, and ran into offensive troubles mid-way through the game that would be too much to overcome as the final score reached 38-47.Fairbury will look to host Diller-Odell on Tuesday, January 7th to kick off the new year and then travel to Tri County on Thursday, January 9th, 2025. The Meridian Lady Mustangs ended the year of 2024 with a 36-48 loss to Deshler on Tuesday, December 30th and will look to host Hampton on Friday, January 3rd. The Diller-Odell Lady Griffins were able to end the year of 2024 on a high note with a solid 60-53 victory on Tuesday, December 30th against Tri County. D-O will look to hit the road on Tuesday, December 7th facing Fairbury. The Southern Lady Raiders gave a good fight, but come up short against Axtell on Tuesday, December 30th with the score reaching 36-41, and would then lose 41-42 against Weeping Water on Thursday, January 2nd. The Tri County Lady Trojans came up short against Diller-Odell on Tuesday, December 30th to close out 2024 with the games final score reaching 53-60. Tri C will look to host E.M.F on Tuesday, January 7th. The Wilber-Clatonia Lady Wolverines were unable to grab the win against B.D.S on Tuesday, December 30th with the final score reaching 35-46. W-C will look to host Syracuse on Tuesday, January 7th. The Thayer Central Lady Titans were able to grab a close 41-38 victory against Ord on Saturday, December 28th. Thayer Central will look to host Republic County on Tuesday, January 7th.
