Area Legion Teams Continue Improved Play

Landsharks Tour KansasOn June 4, the Fairbury Senior Legion Landsharks defeated the Twin River Seniors at home 7-1.Down 1-0 after the second inning, the Landsharks exploded for a seven run third inning and then held Twin River scoreless to preserve the win.Fairbury was led by Miles Tatro and Dakota Zimmerman, each with a hit and an RBI. Dom Joe and Dakotah Neumiller each had an RBI in the game as did Grady Chappell, Garrett Roelfs and Lucas Livingston.On the mound, Dom Joe had eight strikeouts and CJ Goeking had seven to get the win.The Kansas Blues hosted the Fairbury Landshark Seniors and earned a 5-0 win. The game was scoreless until the end when the Blues scored all five runs.Getting hits for the Landsharks included Dom Joe, Dakotah Neumiller and Grady Chappell. Neumiller and Chappell each had a double.Pitching for Fairbury was Neumiller and he had six strikeouts with only one walk.The Landsharks then faced the Buckley Bombers on June 7 and Fairbury picked up a 3-2 win. Fairbury picked up three runs in the third inning to go up 3-1 and held the Bombers to one run in the seventh to get the win.Joe and Chappell each had one hit for Fairbury.Miles Tatro pitched the entire game and had seven strikeouts.Continuing the double header swing against Kansas teams, the Gove County Yardgoats defeated the Landsharks 8-3 on June 8.Joe had three hits and Chappell had two hits. Neumiller had a double.The tandem of Joe and Goeking combined for 12 strikeouts on the mound. Joe had seven K’s, five for Goeking.The Smith Center Seniors won over the Landsharks 7-4 in the second gamme.Tatro had two hits. Chappell, Neumiller, Joe and Goeking each had one hit.Chappell and Joe each had three strikeouts on the mound. Wilber, Tri County Do BattleTaking advantage of the sunny weather in-between rain sessions, the Tri County Seniors downed the Wilber Seniors 13-10 in a wild offensive game.Tri County was up 6-1 after two innings but Wilber came back to score five runs in the third, tying the game at six. Wilber then moved ahead with a 3-2 fourth inning to be up 9-8. Tri County scored one run in the fifth to tie the game at 9-all. Tri County moved ahead with a 4-1 seventh inning to get the ‘W.’Pierce Damrow, Cooper Stokebrand and Jayton Jones each had two RBI for Tri County. Drew Siems had one RBI. Siems, Henry Kapke, Maddox Haake, Damrow and Jones each had two hits in the contest. Stokebrand, Alex Paxton and Mario Escobar each had one hit.Jones and Haake had doubles, Damrow a triple and Jones hit a home run for Tri County. Kapke pitched three strikeouts against Wilber.For Wilber, Owen Smith had three hits, three RBI, while Aven Smith had three hits and two RBI. Leading the bats for Wilber was Chase Tachovsky, with three hits and a team leading four RBI. Brock Young, Cash Keslar each had three hits. Lexand Baker had two hits.Tachovsky had a home run and Young and Baker each had a double. Aven Smith had two doubles for Wilber.Pitching, Owen and Aven Smith each had three strikeouts for Wilber. WDO Picks Up WinIn a battle of two area teams, Wymore Diller Odell Seniors defeated Hebron 9-8 in a tight contest.Hebron was up 4-2 after one inning and WDO stormed back to take a 7-5 lead after a 5-1 third inning.Undaunted, Hebron scored three in the fourth inning to go up 8-7. A two-run fifth inning for WDO gave them the win.Pitching was an issue for Hebron as WDO had a 13-4 advantage in walks. WDO had no hits in the game while Hebron had seven. Picking up RBI for WDO was Callan McKinney, Logan Penner and Dave Parde.Hebron was led in hits by Kohen Gausman, Brayden Gausman and Nick Kendall, each with two, while Dylan Williams had one hit, a double. Nick Kendall hit a home run for Hebron.Landyn Tuma had four strikeouts, Nick Kendall two for Hebron.For WDO, Braydin Wendland had four while Penner and Troxel each had three strikeouts for WDO.On June 8, WDO faced Twin River and Wilber.Against Twin River, WDO would drop 5-7. The teams were tied at 1 after one inning and Twin River held a 2-0 lead going into the fourth inning. A 4-2 fourth inning put WDO up 5-4. However, a single run in the fifth, sixth and seventh inning put the game out of reach for WDO.WDO had a 9-8 hit advantage with Cooper Morgan, Carsen Goes and Dave Parde each knocking in two hits. Callan McKinney, Braydin Wendland and Drake Troxel each had one hit. Morgan had two doubles and Wendland one.Peyton Penner had four strikeouts on the mound for WDO.WDO earned a 7-6 win against the Wilber Seniors. WDO was up 1-0 after one inning and Wilber came up 2-1 after the second inning. A 5-2 lead was held by Wilber until a 5-1 seventh inning for WDO put the ‘W’ in the column for Wymore Diller Odell.Tachovsky, Karsen Fisher, Brock Young, Owen Smith and Aven Smith each had one hit. Cash Keslar had two RBI, Lexand Baker, Izac Fritz and Tachovsky each had one RBI.Tachovsky and Keslar each had one stolen base.Logan Penner had three hits for WDO. Wendland and Morgan each had two hits. Callan McKinney and Parde each had one hit. Wendland had three RBIS, Morgan and McKinney had two RBI each. Wendland continued a hot hit streak with two doubles, McKinney and Morgan each had one double. Penner had three stolen bases in the game.For pitching, Wendland had three strikeouts for WDO and Aven Smith had six strikeouts for Wilber. Hebron Takes On T.C.The Hebron Seniors faced the Tri County Seniors on June 6. Tri County had the offense rolling and won 16-7.Drew Siems, Henry Kapke and T Gronemeyer each had two hits. Damrow and Jayton Jones each had a double. Maddox Haake, Drew Siems, Jason Wehrman and Stokebrand each had two stolen bases.Gronemeyer had seven strikeouts for Tri County on the mound.Hebron had two hits each from Landyn Tuma, Kohen Gausman and Dylan Williams. Gausman had two RBI with Tuma, Williams, Kyler Boyles each had one RBI.Dylan Williams had a triple for Hebron and Tuma had a double. Jackson Beam had three stolen bases for Hebron.
