Area Squads Wrap Up Season

Class B Area 4 district tournament had a great start for the Fairbury Landshark Senior Legion squad.The Landsharks took on the Central City Post 6 Seniors on July 28 and won 7-3.F airbury had a 1-0 lead after one inning and Central City tied the game in the second inning. In the fourth inning, Central City was up 2-1 until a 6-1 fifth inning offensive explosion put the game away for Fairbury.Jamison Runge and CJ Goeking propped up the offense for the Landsharks, each with two hits, one RBI. Dom Joe had one hit and one RBI as did Dakotah Neumiller.Runge and Blayne Schelbitzki each had one stolen base in the contest for Fairbury.Goeking pitched 2.2 innings with two strikeouts and Neumiller pitched 4.1 innings with one K.Against York Cornerstone Kings 18U on July 29, Fairbury lost 2-17.Fairbury scored a run in the first and third inning.Schelbitzki provided two hits and one RBI while Chappell and Runge each had one hit.Chappell, Barron Schoenrock and Runge each pitched two strikeouts in the contest. Wilber’s Legion Post 101 Seniors faced BDS Seniors on July 28 and packed an offensive punch in the contest, winning 10-1. Wilber was up 2-0 after one inning and then was up 5-1 after the second inning. Two dry innings on offense was quenched with one run in the fifth and one in the sixth and to put the game away Wilber score three runs in the seventh.Cash Keslar had two hits, two RBI while Lexand Baker had two hits, one RBI. Aven Smith had two hits in the game for Wilber and Owen Smith had one hit, one RBI. RJ Klaassen had one hit, one RBI while the big offensive player of the day for Wilber was Karsen Fisher, with three hits and two RBI.Baker had a double in the contest.Allen Roger had five strikeouts in six innings pitched. Wilber faced an offensive juggernaut in Malcolm on July 29, losing 2-19. Keslar and Aven Smith each had one hit and Owen Smith picked up one RBI.
