At this time of the year Senior Legion Baseball now has entered the time with some teams still fighting to stay alive and some having seen their season come to an end as it is districts where survival is thriving on the way to punching that state playoff ticket.Landsharks Pick Up WinFor the Fairbury Landsharks Seniors, they didn’t go quietly in the night as they started the tournament on a high note pulling off the close 5-4 victory against Auburn on Friday, July 21.Unfortunately, Fairbury would then lose two straight with a 0-9 loss to Plattsmouth on Saturday, July 22 and then 0-8 to Nebraska City on Sunday bringing an end to their season with a record of (11-19).Wymore/Diller-Odell Gains Win Over AdamsWymore/Diller-Odell Senior Legion were able to secure a hard fought victory in the first round 6-4 against Adams on Friday, July 21.Wymore/Diller-Odell would run out of offense as they would lose to Malcolm on Saturday, July 22 with a final score of 1-13 and on Sunday, July 23 would lose to Hebron 1-7 bringing their season to an end with the record of (7-15).Tri County Gets Win Over HebronStill fighting and looking to push on as Tri County Seniors were able to start districts off on the right foot getting the 7-2 victory against Hebron on Friday, July 21, but would lose 2-12 against Malcolm on Sunday, July 23.Tri County met Hebron on Monday vying to take on Malcolm in the Area 4 District Championship on Tuesday with a state playoff spot up for grabs.Hebron Shows ResiliencyBouncing back and recovering well has been the story for Districts thus far in Hebron Senior’s case as they lost their first round 2-7 against Tri County on July 21.However, Hebron was able to comeback and keep their season alive as they take a shutout victory 9-0 against Adams on July 22 and then on Sunday, July 23 would secure a 7-1 victory against Wymore/Diller-Odell.Wilber Shuts Out UBCFWilber Seniors Legion Post 101 stumbles out the gate losing 1-8 against S.O.S on Saturday, July 22, but were able to keep their state playoff hopes alive with a resounding shutout 8-0 victory against UBCF on Sunday, July 23.That victory gave Wilber a shot of redemption as they took on S.O.S on Monday, July 24 with the chance to compete against Geneva on Tuesday, July 25 for the Area 5 District Championship and state playoff opportunity.
