The Fairbury boys and girls track team were at Syracuse on April 13 and took some great strides into the second half of the season. For the Lady Jeffs many great efforts were brought out, one effort changed the history books as Mikya Lierman took first as she was able to break and set the Scott Nisely Invite pole vault record reaching the height of 10’08’’, and Izzy Ohlde was able to set a PR reaching the height of 7’02’’.In the races, the 4x800 relay continued on with their great season capturing another first place as the ran the time of 10:31.30 with the team Micah Friesen, Lily Davis, Hannah Robertson, and Sam Starr. Starr would also place second in the 800 meter run with the time of 2:29.73.The Jeffs track team had some top placements with great steps being taken, notable efforts were made by Nic Smith taking first in the triple jump as he set a new PR reaching the distance of 39’ 7.5”.Dalton Vanlaningham was able to PR in the pole vault reaching the height of 10’4’’. Again in the races Devon Carel was able to build more momentum as he took first again in the 400 meter dash clocking in the time of :52.40 and placed third in the 200 meter dash.Fairbury will be at York on Saturday. Titans Win At Del Wicks InviteThayer Central Titans boys and girls track team comes back up north with gold in hand as the boys run away with first as they score a team 135 points and the girls score 112 points at the Del Wicks invitational April 13.For the boys making a return to competition was Grant Wiedel taking first in the 100 meter dash clocking in the time of :11.27, third in the 400 meter dash, and set a new PR in the long jump as he took first with the distance 21’.5”. Wiedel also helped the 4x400 get first along with Jordan Mariska, Nate Burd, and Cole Voderstrasse clock in a time of 3:55.17.Vorderstrasse would also take first in both throwing events as he threw 41’11” in shot put and then threw 119’6.25” in discus. Bradley Neff was able to set a new PR and take first in the pole vault reaching the height of 12’1’’and Adam Lukert finished first in the 3200 meter run getting in the time of 12:03.21.The Thayer Central Lady Titans had some great outings to where they’ve had expectations all season and some even exceeding as Piper Havel who has been on a tear was bale to set a new PR in the 100 meter dash as she took first with the time of :12.49, took first in the 200 meter dash with a time of :26.88, and helped the 4x400 meter relay with Josey Welch, Natalie Tietjen, and Allison Richardson claim first with the a time of 4:37.93.Richardson would also claim first in the 1600 meter run setting a new PR time of 6:25.59, Jadyn Bowman joined in the fun of taking first and did so for herself in the 800 meter run with the time of 2:42.34, while Meigha Schmidt took first in the high jump setting a new PR with the height 4’11’’. Meridian Second At Del Wicks InviteMeridian boys and girls track meet was also in attendance of the Del Wicks invitational with the Meridian Lady Mustangs taking runner up scoring a team total of 93 points and the Meridian Mustangs scoring 54 giving them sixth.For the Lady Mustangs, a solid meet that’ll carry plenty of momentum into the week as the top efforts came from Kaylee Pribyl taking first in the long jump by setting a new PR and school record with the distance 17’6.5” and Pribyl would also take first in pole vault reaching the height of 11’’.McKenzie Hofstetter was able to do the same taking first in the triple jump reaching the distance of 33’.5” and would help the 4x800 meter relay with Maria Dimas, Kailyn Paul, and Evelyn Woitalewicz take first as they ran the time of 11:37.50.For the Meridian Mustangs, Colby Smith was able to take first by setting a new PR height with 5’11”, Dylan Griggs took first in the 1600 meter run with the time of 5:22.54, Coby Huls took second in the 3200 meter run, while Kolton Kumpf finished second in both the shot put and discus.Meridian will be at Freeman on April 22. Raiders At MilfordSouthern Raiders competed at the Milford invite on April 11. Some notable performances came from Kale Maguire winning the 800 meter run and setting a new PR time of 2:08.51, Kolton Ideus set a PR in the long jump with the distance of 14’3”, Jenna Forney set a new PR in the long jump reaching the distance of 12’6.5”, and set a new PR in the 300 meter hurdles with the time of :56.88. Southern will be back in action come the MUDECAS Invite on April 22. Wolverines Second At MilfordWilber-Clatonia boys and girls track were at the Milford invite on April 11 with the boys track team taking second scoring 93 points and the girls getting fifth scoring 51.33 points.For the W-C boys track team the top efforts came by Carter Skleba taking first in the triple jump with the distance 42’2” and then set a new PR distance in the long jump in the process of taking first with 20’10”. Kenneth Guerra was able to place second in the high jump and set a PR height with 5’8’’. Tyson Kreshel was able to take first in two events as well as Kreshel took first in shot put with a throw of 49’ .75” and then in discus would throw a PR distance with 146’ 10”.The W-C girls track team had some solid performances coming by Jera Schueran taking first in the 800 meter again as she clocked in the time of 2:41.01, and took second in the discus. Carly Rains took second in the 100 meter hurdles, and Breanna Spilker was able to set a new PR distance while taking second in the triple jump with 31’5”.Wilber-Clatonia will be at Conestoga on April 24.
