Trojans Gain Road MilesThe Tri County Trojans started the second week on the road as they were at the Fillmore Central Triangular on Dec. 7.Tri County would go 0-2 as they lost 28-51 to Fillmore Central and 21-42 against Fairbury. Then on Dec. 9 the Trojans would be at the North Bend Central Invitational.From that invite for Tri County the top placements came by: Cole Spahr and Cooper Stokebrand each taking first in their divisions. While the duo of Cael Washburn and Gavin Houston each finished with third.Also in competition was Lucas Lewandowski and Toby Ambrose. For Cole Spahr, a nice 3-0 in the 126-pound division with each win by pin. Cooper Stokebrand in the 190-pound division went 4-0 with one pin-fall victory and three decisions in taking first.After losing in the first round, Cael Washburn in the 215-pound division received a bye and then went a tear finishing 4-1, one by medical forfeit, and three decisions. Gavyn Houston in the 150-pound division was able to go 4-1 as he was able to get three pin-falls and one decision.Tri County will be hosting Auburn in dual action on Thursday.Wolverines Continue Solid Work At Crete InviteThe Wilber-Clatonia Wolverines came away with top prizes at the Crete Invite on Saturday as well as placing among the top five as a team with third. Looking focused and strong as he does with another dominating outing was Zaiyahn Ornelas. The sophomore went 4-0 to take first in the 113-pound division. Two victories by way of pin-fall, one tech-fall and one decision. Iverson Mejia in the 138-pound division went 4-0, two by pin-fall and two by decision.Grant Eschiti managed second in the 120-division as he went 3-1 on the day, two wins by pin-fall and one by decision. Keith Kvasnicka took first in the 285-pound division going 3-0 with two pin-fall wins and one decision.Also competing for W-C was Logan Zimmerman, Isaac Torres, Ryan Marsh, Ty Roesler, Jordan Marsh, Gustavo Linares and Lane Vesely.W-C will be gearing up for dual competition on Saturday at the Kearney Catholic Dual Invite. Jeffs Finish In Top 10 At CreteThe Fairbury Jeffs placed in the top 10 with the eighth spot as a team at the Crete Invite on Saturday and came away with some top placements as well.Of the 11 Jeffs wrestling, seven were able to medal. Fredy Leon came second in the 150-pound division going 3-1, as each win was by pin-fall.Riley Arner in the 165-pound division grabbed third as he finished 4-1, two decisions and two pin-falls. Konrad Kuzelka in the 175-pound division ended his day placing at third going 4-1 as each win was by pin-fall.Gavin Gerths in the 120-pound division finished as fifth going 4-2 with three pin-fall wins and one decision.Noah Hyson was able to get fifth in the 215-pound division going 3-2 with each win by pin-fall and Cody Berkenmeier at the 190-pound division placed himself at sixth going 2-3, one win by pin-fall and the other decision.While Dalton VanLaningham in the 132-pound division finished 3-3 getting sixth.Also competing for Fairbury was Hayden Bear, Layne Fees, Carter Johnson, Nic Smith and Dakota Zimmerman.Titans Win Bob Oliver TournamentThe Thayer Central Titans took the top place of first at the Bob Oliver Pin Invitational on Saturday as the team won it by scoring 255 points.A quartet of Titans were able to come away with gold with that being Nate Burd in the 190-pound division, Colter Sinn in the 113-pound division, Carson McLaughlin in the 144-pound division and Cole Vorderstrasse in the 215-pound division.Dylan Williams in the 175-pound division and Mason Remmers in the 150-pound division each took second. Brighton Hergott in the 285-pound division was able to come away with third.While James Bonar in the 285-pound division, Gage Brown in the 132-pound division, and Alex Hammer in the 126-pound division each finished with four.Also competing for the Titans was Anthony Congdon-Meyer, and Kaleb Bonar. Thayer Central will have a week break as they head to the Auburn Invite on Saturday.Forney Has Great Day At OsceolaThe Southern Raiders were at the Osceola Invite on Saturday.Top performances for the Raiders came by way of Wyatt Forney finishing runner-up in the 106-pound division going 3-2 with one victory by tie-breaker and two by pin-fall.Bladen Weiner went 2-2 in the 285-pound division with his two wins coming by pin-fall.Also competing for Southern was Jacob Ward, Josh Upton, Noah Troxel, Kyen Troxel, Ashton Schrieber, Colton Goes, and Kolten Ideus.Southern will be at Lincoln Lutheran on Thursday, Dec. 14 and then at the Johnson County Central on Saturday.Girls:Degenhardt Goes 3-0 At Wood RiverThe Thayer Central lady Titans were competing at the Wood River Invite on Saturday (Dec. 9) and were able to come away with some medals from their efforts while the team as a whole placed fourth.Taking the top prize and finishing first in the 130-pound division was Braelyn Degenhardt going undefeated 3-0 with each win by pin-fall. Kinley Casey in the 125-pound division finished runner-up going 3-1 on the day with two victories coming by pin.Anessa Baines took third in the 150-pound division going 3-2 with each win by pin-fall. While Bella Habana-Lindeman finished fourth in the 135-pound division at 2-2 with each win by way of pin-fall. Also in competition was Kaelyn Buster, Keirsten Heinrichs, Libby Hergott, Mackenzie Hergot, Trinity Kendall, Kayelynn Luna, Aydrian Meyer, Savannah Smith, JaeLynn Watson, Alexis White, Savanna Wiedel and Alicia Workman.Thayer Central will be back on the mat at the Fairbury Girls Invite on Thursday (Dec. 14).Jeffs At Triangular At Fillmore CentralThe Fairbury Lady Jeffs went 1-1 a the Fillmore Central Triangular on Thursday, Dec. 7.Fairbury would lose 27-48 to Seward, but had a resounding 60-12 victory against Fillmore Central.Then on Saturday, Dec. 9 Fairbury was a the Crete Invite with some Lady Jeffs having some solid outings. In the 155-pound division Heidi Ramos finished 3-2 getting fourth with each win by pin-fall.Mailee Garner in the 145-pound division was able to go 2-2 with each win also by pin-fall. While Addison Marschmann in 235-pound division took sixth as she finished 3-3.Also competing for Fairbury was Atheana Vega, Clara Buxton, Danika Corbin, Zoey Frerichs, Rylee Gill, Olivia Hackler, Gabriella Herrera, Regan Kapke, Reese Stone and Aspen Swanda.Fairbury will be gearing up to host the Fairbury Girls Invite on Thursday, Dec. 14.
