Arlene May Jones

Arlene May Jones died on Monday, August 28, 2023 at Fairbury, Nebraska.  She was born on October 20, 1937, at the rural farm home of her grandparents near Lincoln, Nebraska.  She grew up on a farm near Greenwood, Nebraska, graduated from Greenwood High School in 1956, and took business courses at the Lincoln School of Commerce.  She was married to Bradley K. Jones on November 23, 1965.  She worked as a clerk-typist for the State of Nebraska in Lincoln for 22 years.

Arlene had a lovely singing voice and sometimes did duets with her daughter, Kathleen.  She liked to visit with friends over the telephone and was known for reading jokes at family gatherings.  Arlene also enjoyed sports.  She loved cheering on the Huskers and her children at their various activities.

Survivors include her sister Carolyn Bednar and husband Lad of Denton, Texas; daughter Kathleen Jones of Western; son Clinton Jones and his wife Mindee and their four children (Jayton, Jarrett, Jarron, and Jaymee) of Daykin, Nebraska. Also 4 nieces and 1 nephew.  She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Vernice Johnson; husband Bradley Jones; and brother, John Johnson Jr.

Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 on Friday, September 1, 2023, at Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury with a Graveside Service to follow in Western at 11:30 a.m. at the Plainview Cemetery in Western. Memorials will go to Family’s Choice.  Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
