Ausk Signs With Concordia For Speech

Another Jeff is off to college and looking forward to competing at the next level. That Jeff is Izzy Ausk as she signed with Concordia University for Speech on Friday, January 9. As the decision on where one’s future will be headed is a daunting task. For Ausk, it was a comfort and certain welcoming atmosphere in the decision that made it that much easier on where the next chapter would begin. A decision, that only needed one visit to make ink reach paper, as Ausk talked about the process about the signing saying, “My visit that I took, from meeting the coaches, professors, soon to be teammates and seeing the campus. It just had a welcoming energy, that I felt comfortable in and I almost felt as if I was already going to school there. I felt like that they made me feel like I’d been there for years, it was such a welcoming feeling, I couldn’t have imagined going anywhere else.” The time in Fairbury, with family, friends and coaches, flies by with the fun being had even in the times of hard work. So much so that the lessons and memories Izzy has made has prepared her for this next step in more ways then one as she reminisced about the past four years, “I was fortunate to do speech with my sister for three years. She graduated last year, so some of my best memories were hugging each other after a performance knowing how much work we put into it, and having success. Being able to be with her for an entire day doing something we enjoy was a gift. I can’t thank the coaches I had here enough. Speech is a difficult thing to coach, because critiquing how we work is the only way to get better. There was always something to work on and my coaches kept pushing me to find that, I wouldn’t be ready as I am if it wasn’t for them and my teammates.”
