The Southern Raiders went 1-1 in the MUDECAS tournament as they would lose 50-55 to Johnson County Central in the first round, but would bounce back with a victory in the consolation round against Tri County as the final score reached 54-44. Southern will hit the road on Tuesday, January 21st facing against Diller-Odell and were able to grab a win on the road with a 47-40 victory.Southern will face Sacred Heart on Tuesday, January 28th. The Diller-Odell Griffins were able to take third place in the B Division of the MUDECAS tournament. A mixed bag of results for D-O, but history was made by the efforts of the Griffins in the tournament entering the shot-clock era. D-O made history in the first game with Parkview Christian by being the first game in the MUDECAS shot-clock era to go into overtime. D-O managed to pull off the win in a close affair with the final score 49-46.Unfortunately D-O lost in the second round to H.T.R.S, with that score 33-40, but the Griffins bounced back with a solid win with another close score of 39-37, giving them third place. D-O hosted Southern on Tuesday, January 21st, and ran into offensive struggles as they lost the game at home with the final score reaching 40-47. The Griffins were back on the court hosting Lawrence-Nelson on Thursday, January 23rd. Hitting the road and coming away with a victory as the final score reached 47-38, D-O looks to carry this momentum on the road once again as they'll be facing Hanover on Tuesday, January 28th. The Meridian Mustangs went 0-2 in the MUDECAS tournament. They lost 29-54 in the first round to Sacred Heart and then 40-60 against Lewiston in the consolation round. Meridian hit the road on Tuesday, January 21st facing off against Twin River and lost that game 44-67.Meridian hosted East Butler on Thursday, January 23rd. The Mustangs gave a good effort but were unable to contain East Butler, rolling on undefeated with the final score 38-67. Meridian will have a brief break and will host High Plains on Tuesday, February 4th. The Tri County Trojans went 0-2 in the MUDECAS tournament as they would lose to Freeman in the first round with a final score of 30-62, and then in the consolation round lost 44-54 to Southern. Tri County hit the road to face Elmwood-Murdock on Tuesday, January 21st with that ending a tough loss with a close score of 54-56. Tri County will hit the road looking for answers as they face off against Thayer Central on Tuesday, January 28th. The Thayer Central Titans start the new year off with a hot-start with four straight victories. In the grind of January, the Titans also saw a career high by the efforts of Sam Souerdyke. On Tuesday, January 14th the Thayer Central Titans were able to pull off a close 59-58 win on the road against Wilber-Clatonia. To get that victory, a lot of credit goes to Sam Souerdyke, scoring a new career high of 37 points. Not only a career high night in scoring, but Sam was able to tie a career high 15 rebounds for the double-double, along with five assists and three steals in what was an incredible all around effort.It wasn't until Saturday, January 18th that the Titans would suffer their first loss in the month as they were on the road facing Milford with the final score coming to 47-67. Thayer Central looked to bounce back as they hosted E.M.F on Tuesday, January 21st but lost that game after a slow start, creating a hole the Titans were unable to fight out of. The final score was 43-56. Thayer Central looks to regroup hosting Sandy Creek on Saturday, January 25th. The Wilber-Clatonia hit the road in the third week of January as they faced Freeman on Thursday, January 23rd with the final score reaching 32-26. Wilber-Clatonia closed out the third week facing Auburn on Saturday, January 25th. The Fairbury Jeffs can't keep pace with the Sutton offense on Thursday, January 23rd as the final score reached 44-82. Fairbury looked to regroup hosting Syracuse on Friday, January 24th.
