The Fairbury Jeffs showed grit in holding onto the win at home with a final score of 51-48 against Superior on Tuesday, December 10. The Jeffs would go into the half with a 22-18 lead, extended the lead to a 35-29 difference, and were able to withstand the comeback as Superior outscored the Jeffs in the fourth 16-21, but would still fall just short as the Jeffs stood tall at home.Fairbury was led by the duo of Brodie Prellwitz and James Martin on the offensive attack. Prellwitz was able to shoot a nice 50 percent from the field going eight for sixteen, scoring 25 points with two assists, two rebounds, one steal and one block. Martin was able to lead the team with five steals, grabbed two rebounds and scored 15 points, nine of which came from behind the arch. Korey Nippert contributed eight rebounds to lead the team, scored seven points, gave out two assists and came up with two steals.Fairbury will look to hit the road facing Milford on Friday, December 13th and be back home hosting Thayer Central on Saturday, December 14th. The Tri County Trojans unable to keep pace with Pawnee City as they lost on the road with a final score 42-55 on Tuesday, December 10th. Tri County will hit the road facing Southern on Friday, December 13 and then be back home hosting Sandy Creek on Saturday, December 14th. The Southern Raiders fall just short on the road to Johnson County Central with a final score 50-51 on Tuesday, December 10th. Southern will look to regroup as they host Tri County on Friday, December 13th and then Deshler on Saturday, December 14. The Thayer Central Titans won on the road with a final score of 55-39 against Diller-Odell on Tuesday, December 10. Thayer Central was led by the duo of Sam Souerdyke and Laken Wiedel. Sam Souerdyke was able to score a sweet 16 points to lead the team while grabbing a team leading four steals, gave four assists and had four rebounds. Laken Wiedel scored 11 points, have one rebound and three assists. Thayer Central will hit the road again facing Fairbury on Saturday, December 14th. The Diller-Odell Griffins' slow start at home led to a hole they couldn't get out of as they would lose 39-55 to Thayer Central on Tuesday, December 10. The Griffins' only misstep in the game was in the first quarter as D-O only managed three points to Thayer Central's 14. A second quarter was much more even, 13-16, with a large deficit to cut into. The third quarter would score at 10-14, but in the fourth D-O was able to outscore 13-11. Notable efforts from D-O came by way of Ben Sohl and Jack Phillips. Sohl was able to lead the team with 14 points shooting six of seven from the field, snagging four rebounds and had one assist. Phillips also managed double digit points with 11 scored, grabbing four rebounds as well, led the team with three assists and had one steal. D-O will close out the week on the road facing Sterling on Friday, December 13. The Meridian Mustangs will hit the road to face Cross County on Friday, December 13.
