Brandon Imes Appears in Court

After multiple missed court dates and multiple warrants issued for his arrest, Brandon L. Imes, age 33, of Plymouth, finally appeared in Jefferson County Court on Wednesday, July 13, 2022. Linda Bauer was the presiding judge.Imes is facing charges in three separate cases.Imes was arraigned on a charge of driving under a suspended license, a class 3 misdemeanor punishable by three months in jail and a $500 fine.Imes requested court-appointed counsel. Public Defender Scott Gropp was not assigned due to a possible conflict. Imes had previously been represented by another local attorney, Ronald Brackle, but Jefferson County Attorney Joseph Casson recommended against appointing Brackle again. Judge Bauer appointed attorney Lee Timan to represent Imes.He was also scheduled to be sentenced on two other cases.In Jefferson County Court, Imes pleaded guilty to driving without a valid license on Wednesday, November 24, 2021.Imes was charged with driving under a revoked operator's license, second offense, a class 2 misdemeanor that carries a possible penalty of six months in jail, a $1,000 fine and his license could be further revoked for another two years.Sentencing was previously scheduled for December 22, but he failed to appear.Imes was previously convicted on September 13, 2017, in Jefferson County.When the defendant was arraigned in Jefferson County on February 10, 2021, Casson was asked by Judge Bauer if he indented to seek jail time for the offense. Casson said, “Absolutely.”However, Imes did not have legal representation in either of those cases. He requested the cases be continued to allow his new attorney to represent him in both of those cases as well. Judge Bauer agreed. Another hearing is scheduled for August 31.Imes has had other run ins with the law.Imes was arrested Wednesday morning, December 29,2021, in Gage County after allegedly attempting to flee from law enforcement. Imes has multiple charges of driving under a suspended license.He has failed to appear for court in Gage County on multiple occasions. He was scheduled for a hearing on Tuesday, December 28 and, after he did not appear, Jeffrey A. Gaertig, the presiding judge, issued a warrant for his arrest. Imes was arrested the next morning.He was convicted in Saline County on June 17, 2019, for attempted receipt of stolen property.Imes also has an ongoing case in Lancaster County, where he is charged with escape while under arrest on a felony charge, which is a class 3A felony.He went missing from the Community Corrections Center in Lincoln when did not return as scheduled on November 26, 2020, from his work assignment in the community.The electronic monitoring device he was wearing had been disabled.
