Brandon Imes Sentenced

After numerous missed court dates and multiple warrants issued for his arrest, Brandon L. Imes, age 33, of Plymouth, was finally sentenced in two cases that have been pending since 2021.Imes appeared in Jefferson County Court on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, in the custody of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. His attorney, Lee Timan, appeared in court via webcam.Linda Bauer was the presiding judge.Imes had pleaded guilty to driving without a valid license on Wednesday, November 24, 2021. He was charged with driving under a revoked operator's license, second offense, a class 2 misdemeanor that carries a possible penalty of six months in jail, a $1,000 fine and his license could be further revoked for another two years.When the defendant was arraigned in that case on February 10, 2021, County Attorney Joseph Casson was asked by Judge Bauer if he intended to seek jail time for the offense. Casson said, “Absolutely.”In another case, Imes is charged with driving under a suspended operator's license, a class 3 misdemeanor, alleged to have occurred on September 9, 2021. Again, he pleaded guilty.Casson recommended a straight sentence. However, the defendant said, “I don't really want time served. I'd like you to put me on probation.”“I think that maybe the light is finally starting to dawn on you. But, unfortunately, it's a little too late,” said Judge Bauer. “I don't think time served is appropriate. I don't think you're a candidate for probation.”The judge noted Imes has 13 prior convictions for driving under suspension or revocation.The defendant was sentenced to 60 days for the class 3 misdemeanor and 120 days for the class 2 misdemeanor.The judge granted the defendant's request to have the sentences served concurrently.Imes then asked about the possibility of house arrest or work release.The judge said, “There's an application that you fill out at the Sheriff's Office. I guess I'd like to see what the sheriff's assessment of it would be.”In Lancaster County, Imes was charged with escape while under arrest on a felony charge, which is a class 3A felony.He went missing from the Community Corrections Center in Lincoln when did not return as scheduled on November 26, 2020, from his work assignment in the community.The electronic monitoring device he was wearing had been disabled.
